My DD is going to this concert next year and got tickets without specifically asking us first. He looks like some sort of US rapper. She is 14 and gojng with her BFF who will be 15, and friends parent taking them and will hang around but won't be going into concert venue. Do I have reason to be worried or am I overthinking? Thanks

He's a global superstar - have you really not heard of him?

But in any case, under 18s must be accompanied by an adult and under 16s will not be admitted to the floor. Look on the website.

Honestly I never have! Wikipedia tells me that he does not seem an entirely pleasant character. They are going to Bham concert. Will Google the entry requirements - where did you see the point about adult accompaniment? X

I've not heard of him, came on to this thread to find out.

AGE LIMITS

Seated: Under 14 year olds MUST be accompanied by an adult aged 18yrs + with a valid ticket, into the venue. (i.e. 14yrs and over can come into the building on their own with a valid ticket).
Standing: Under 14 year olds are not permitted on a standing floor.14 and 15 year olds are only permitted on a standing floor when accompanied by an adult aged 18yrs +.

Where are the seats? Floor standing or seated? If floor standing, the first comment applies

Breakoutbun very funny!

Will check, I didn't buy the tickets

Have a listen to his stuff if you want. He's very popular among kids that age. He's not a 'gangster rapper' but there's probably swearing/n-word in some of the lyrics. I think it will be totally fine. As long as she knows to stick closely with her mates in a crowd.

Greenbanana7 · 09/11/2024 16:51

That's what I was worried about, and him attracting unpleasant people to his concert which could put my DD in danger. Her friends mum will be waiting near the venue but will not be in it.

Oh those rules are for Co-op live, so it seems like they might get away with it in Brum. Fingers crossed!

Isn't it weird how nowadays you can just discover whole worlds. I was unaware, somehow, until this year, of MrBeast. It's like that 30Rock sketch about Leap Day

She's seated so looks like she will be allowed in. Damn.

Danger?

It's a big concert venue, it'll be full of security, teenagers and worried parents chaperoning.

What are you scared about?

SirHisss · 09/11/2024 16:55

I had never heard of him until DS asked me to buy him and his friend a ticket.

Greenbanana7 · 09/11/2024 16:56

That I won't be there

Just let her feel like she's cool for one night, doing something exciting without mum.

I can't think of anywhere safer for a teen going to a gig with friends. They are secured up the wazoo, cameras everywhere, crowd control, doors patrolled.

They only thing you'll have to worry about is spending all her money on merch and waiting for 17 years in a queue in the car park with her friends mum.

StarSlinger · 09/11/2024 17:02

She will be fine. I've dropped off and hung about waiting at many a concert when mine were teenagers.

Greenbanana7 · 09/11/2024 17:04

I wouldn't worry if it was Gary Barlow or similar but a US rapper who has been banned from the UK in the past makes me nervous. She has the tickets though (won't go into that story) and will go, hopefully seating will be safer than other options

To be fair I would worry if my 14 year old wanted to see Gary Barlow / it would mean I had failed as a parent 🤣

Lincoln24 · 09/11/2024 17:06

The Tyler the Creator crowd won't be any more dangerous than any other major teen superstar's crowd. Your dd is bang on his demographic.

I did think that Gary Barlow wasn't the best comparison to be fair!
