“Manscaping”? (Male hair removal from pubic area)

Hi — I am old and possibly out of touch so I need some perspective. I don’t want to give all the details but need to know whether there is now a trend for men to remove hair from their pubic area or whether the desire to do so is indicative of body discomfort/dysphoria. I have known many men over the years and never knew one who wished to remove pubic hair. Is it even safe to use hair removal cream from such sensitive cream? Is this a new fad or have I just missed it before?

@OnlyOpenMouthToChangeFeet. Do you keep that link in a special file to pull out whenever you need to give someone a good laugh! 😂 😂 (and/or warn someone against doing something foolish!)

perhaps I shouldn’t have laughed. Have just read other reviews and it sounds like
this product can cause pretty serious pain.

I do think this has been a trend for a while, as with women. Recently had info that teenage boys who watch porn only see bald vaginas and are appalled at girls having any public hair? Hence girls do whatever they can to do this, huge growth in personal beauty treatments. So sad I know, just seems way it is. Xx

I'm surprised that you openly discuss this with men you know.

The only person whose pubes I know about are DH's

I just can't imagine asking friends or colleagues about this.

Yes, me neither. Only know for sure about DH. My DD mentions that her BF waxes, so I know he removes body hair, but she would not speak about, and I would not ask, about his intimate hair preferences.
While we're at it, I also don't know about intimate styling of any female other than myself, either.

I wish more men did it 🤣

My information is from a few old friends that I grew up with who are beauticians. They’ve seen thousands of men over the course of their careers coming in for manscaping hair removal.

@anomaly2

I disagree. What had teenage hairstyles got to do with it? And yes I see plenty. With ds1 off at Uni, and ds2 doing GCSE's, I see tonnes of different hairstyles. None of them bother me, they can do what they want, within reason.

How is that at all related to other hair parts? "I don't think 'natural' is a desired look by anyone much".
What's wrong with natural?

Oblomov23 · 24/09/2023 21:33

@anomaly2

Also there's a reason for hair. Biologically. Why do you think we have eyelashes or hairs in our nose, or eyebrows. you do know there's a reason don't you?? Why do you think we have hairs on our arms and legs. Under our arms. Pubic. There is a health and biological reason.

What is the purpose of growing pubic hair?

The purpose of pubic hair is to protect us, just like the hair around your ears, nose, and eyes. It keeps the skin of your vulva warm and moisturized. It protects the delicate skin from friction during sexual activity. It keeps dust, dirt, and germs away from the vagina to prevent infection.

@Oblomov23 there is a reason for all body hair but most of the people on here having a problems with the concept if removing pubic hair don't think twice about removing arm pit, leg and facial hair
