What style winter jackets/coats are your boys wearing?

Went looking today and I have no idea. My 15yo DS is so insecure (bullied) about what style he should get. So I thought I would ask here. He needs something to get him through a cold winter (not a ski jacket).

I got my sons recently from JD sports. Black puffer with black furry hood. Foot asylum. We're in an SE london so everything has to be designer 🙄 but its really really thick and lovely quality.

reallyworriedjobhunter · 11/11/2022 16:22

An M&S men's body warmer thing in dark khaki green. Really good quality and warm.

For colder days a Uniqlo anorak thing. Waterproof and very warm. Dark green again.

Both are really simple, non branded and a outdoorsy/military looking which suits DS.

Both have good phone pockets inside them too.

Just having a look at the footasylum website.... Like the zavetti canada one or more sporty?

Cheaper north face here.

Todayissunny · 11/11/2022 16:26

Green body warmer sounds lovely, bt not sufficient for the cold here.

Black puffa from Uniqlo. Usually hard to get him to wear a coat but he really likes this one.

Todayissunny · 11/11/2022 16:27

@SheWoreYellow also black puffer type thing?

The Zavetti puffer jackets are very popular round here, my DS has one. Quite expensive though

Todayissunny · 11/11/2022 16:34

The Zavetti jackets look great. I'll see what he thinks.

Yes the Zavetti Canada ones! My brother is 28 and has one and my son aswell. Very popular with younger boys / men and really warm x

VladsPants · 11/11/2022 16:36

Black North Face puffer here. Used one off eBay.

They’re really warm too.
I may or not have thrown it on a few times while nipping to the shops 😊

Athenen0ctua · 11/11/2022 16:39

Ds 16 is wearing a navy hollister coat with pockets on the outside, thigh length.

PicturesOfDogs · 11/11/2022 16:58

As an aside OP, I hope he’s okay, and getting all the relevant support he needs for the bullying.
Some schools are so useless

Todayissunny · 11/11/2022 16:58

Thanks all. I've sent him links to zavetti and Hollister jackets 🤗

sorry but isn't 'teenager' and 'coat' in the same sentence and oxymoron?

None of them seem to wear anything! despite freezing to death

Todayissunny · 11/11/2022 17:04

thank you @PicturesOfDogs the bullying is just about in the past thankfully, but it has left its mark and in certain things he gets nervous and uncertain. His school was useless.... I could start ranting about it...

OP posts:
Todayissunny · 11/11/2022 17:06

@steppemum 😂i know what you mean, but it does snow here and he has to get buses and trains to school and hobbies.

But I think you can tell from this thread, the key is black and puffer!

validnumber · 11/11/2022 17:07

I tend to think most things in JD and Foot Asylum are ok as that's were boys shop. So they have already chosen the 'ok' brands for you.
Surely you also couldn't go wrong with adidas or Nike either?
Poor boy it's hard being a teenager. Nice he has a lovely mum to look after him though and consider these things.

OtterOnToast · 11/11/2022 17:08

My almost 16 year old wears this one - see link - and he's painfully fashionable. Painfully as in its me who feels the pain of this in my pocket

North Face also worth considering - he had one of those last year.

OtterOnToast · 11/11/2022 17:09

I'd also not buy one from m and s for a mid teen boy! For a middle aged man, maybe, but for a teen who's feeling self conscious as it is, just go for plain, black and lightly trendy with a small logo. You want him to blend with his peers and M & S won't achieve this

sunglassesonthetable · 11/11/2022 17:10

Black North Face Thin Puffa. Pricey but reliable. Looking on Ebay this year .

SheWoreYellow · 11/11/2022 17:10

Todayissunny · 11/11/2022 16:27

@SheWoreYellow also black puffer type thing?

Yeah. The slightly thinner one though. Even though we are in Scotland.
