Teen DD had notice of insurance cancellation

My DD has had notice from her insurer that her car insurance policy is due to be cancelled in 7 days time. She has a black box and apparently has driven over the speed limit 3 times since 23/8. I don’t know the full details of how fast/where etc yet because she is not home and they won’t tell me.

She is going to ring them when she gets in. I just wondered if anyone else has had this and if so, is it possible to appeal the decision to cancel?

I would suggest that she cancel the insurance tomorrow, before they do. If they cancel it, her premiums for ever more will be higher.

Worked for AA insurance in the past and it is an offence to not tell them if your insurance has been cancelled and they also ask if you have ever had a policy refused.

this goes on the CUE database and is shared between home and car insurers and personal injury etc and they keep a record of “everything”

For example when they ask “have you suffered any loss or made a claim in the last 5 years”

Take notice of the word loss, as say you have had a leak and ring your home insurance but decide not to claim as excess is to high this would need to be declared to any new home insurer for 5 years.

Insurance company’s do not want to pay out, fact so if you choose not to tell them and dd ever had an accident they will be very likely to say she was driving uninsured as if you fell blatant lies the insurance policy is null and void.

All insurers operate on the basis of Utmost good faith and it’s a legal agreement that what you tell them is the truth.

Off topic but did you know if you had a house fire and over or underinsured your contents you only get that percentage. For example if your contents are insured for 50 grand when it should be say 100 they would only pay out 25 grand not the 50!!
