DS 15 is 5ft 3, by far the smallest boy in his class/year. I'm 5ft 6 and they always say boys are taller than their mums. He hasn't grown since last November. Is there a chance he will have a growth spurt later on even though he seems to have stopped for a while?

@Oblomov22 yup as I said - totally understand. I have spent a lot of time reassuring my own teen son that he's fine as is I guess so was just trying to relay that, just incase op's son is fully grown. I do understand the self consciousness of course, teenage years are awful for that, but hopefully it's something that ceases over time and matters less as we get older. Perhaps I worded it clumsily apologies if so!

My 20 yr DS is 6ft4. He was very average height until he was about 15.

I am however taller than my other son.

13 is not late to start periods

is she close to 14 or just turned 13?

13 in a few weeks. I know periods can come later than that but what about growing in height? Looking around, most of the girls had their big growth spurt during year 6.

This thread is depressing! So what if he’s not the tallest guy, I’m sure he has plenty of other characteristics he can bring to the table.

the contradiction is that in your other post you pretty much explicitly say that a man with thinning hair and a belly is unattractive and you actually “roll my eyes” If someone is with someone with thinning hair and a belly and thinks they have “bagged a catch.”

But surely “he has plenty of other characteristics to bring to the table” and why can’t he be “a catch” irrespective od his hair?

a very very obvious contradiction!

Um, in my post in another thread I say that several women go on about how attractive they find their husbands with characteristics I don’t find attractive (and how that’s nice for them).

In this thread I say I’m not put off by a characteristic others may find unattractive, I’m perfectly entitled to have my own preferences. Im sure there are a good few women who don’t find my DP attractive because of his height and that’s fine, just as I’m entitled to not fancy blokes because of characteristics I don’t find attractive. It’s quite disturbing when people try and dictate what others find attractive to be honest.

The entire point of my post is that SOME women will still find the OPs son attractive despite his height, which is THE SAME point as my other post on how there’s women who obviously find other typically less desirable traits such as thinning hair and pot belly attractive.

Are you particularly hard of thinking or have I just touched a nerve?

tomatoandherbs · 07/05/2022 12:49

So we all find different features attractive

so how come you found this thread “depressing”?

tomatoandherbs · 07/05/2022 12:49

No one said

all short men are unattractive.

All I did was say you were contradicting yourself

how come you have felt the need to be so aggressive - saying I’m hard of hearing, struggle with comprehension?!

My cousin was the smallest in his year at school. He's now over 6ft. Some boys just shoot up later, but if you're concerned see your GP

I haven't RTFT. Can I please briefly piggy back on this thread (Apologies in advance OP) Flowers

What's going on with e.g. a girl who was always among the tallest until about year 5 but is now among the shortest in year 8? No period yet and very gradual signs of puberty (mainly hair growth and the beginnings of breast growth). At 13, is she just late to puberty? Is it likely she will grow before getting her period? Is this uncommon? I have tried to strata a thread on this but got no replies. Any helpful views?

I was the same (as in not short in primary and then below average in height in y8). However, I started my period in y6 and I’ve been the same height since y8 whilst others continued to grow. Is your dd's body fat % enough for her to menstruate? Is she eating enough? That can prevent puberty.

You specifically advanced searched me after I made a pretty innocuous post reassuring the OP not to worry about her son and tried to (incorrectly) pick apart posts I’d made on previous threads?

If someone had started a thread about their son having a terrible hairline and big tum I’d probably have said “don’t worry, not my thing but Janet from work seems to think her husband’s the bees knees”

Don’t dish it out if you can’t take it back!

How tall is your son now, @Lilyana ?
