My daughter has always been no trouble, good girl, works hard. Has just discovered going out and socialising with friends. She has just tested positive for covid but is refusing to self isolate. She said she has had it already (all LFD's come up negative but PCR is positive) although she has never had a positive test before. I have begged her to stay in and she has just walked out. I am beside myself and don't know how to deal with it.

Crikey we don't know where she's going... I'm sure she's not on a one woman granny killing mission.
No, but my thinking is that she could easily come in contact with my godson, who has had an organ transplant, or my friends husband, who is on heavy chemo and steroids.

She is being unbelievably selfish in going out.

But at 17 it has to be assumed there is something else going on in her life which is driving her to do it.

Confusing post.
Has she had a positive pcr test or not? Yes or no.

If she's still at school, let the school know she's tested positive. They can refuse her access and at least that protects her fellow pupils from her selfishness.

Good advice thank you and yes I have always been so proud of her and the person she is turning into which is why I'm finding this so hard

you probably already have said this to her but i would just say that if she goes out and decides to not self isolate and ends up giving covid to someone else, that person could die, and there life would be in her hands, surely she would be able to realise the impact she could have on someone and their family by not simply self isolating.
