how much would you pay a teenager to do this?

take my 7 year old down the road in her wheelchair to an hour's drama class and sit in the foyer in case she needs to go to the loo during it

take my 7 year old in her wheelchair to Brownies and help her with craft/ going to loo/ general support for an hour and a half

dd is bright and quite mobile in a walking frame, and there wouldn't be any lifting involved

Depends where you are?

I am in SW London and would probably offer to pay £10/12 an hour.

It's not sitting on your arse-eating biscuits-watching TV type of babysitting is it.

Just make sure you actually buy the fags and booze for them though - don't give them the money.

You don't want them spending it on drugs instead do you?

or ask my mate who works at girls grammar if she has any teacher's pets she can pimp out

Oh you cynics. Some teenage girls do this sort of thing because they actually like helping people and will spend the dosh on nothing worse than mobile topups.

£10 seems about right - though if its the same teenager twice a week every week maybe you can work out something a bit less but regular?

I mean I'd do it - sitting on arse reading book - if I didn't have a 2 year old

I'd do it for tuppence if it gave me an hour to sit down

Agree that £10 is enough(total not p/hr). I'm in London and had a gorgeous teen clear my garden at £5 an hour. £15 later I was one happy Mars!

Well it's not as if you're asking them to do any too hard. Blimey.... care assistants get paid less than that and do it professionally!

the direct payment rate would be about £9.16 an hour I think (& poeple don't often pay the full amount to their employees)- are you sure that there are no voluntary services in your area that could support dd with these activities?

direct payments takes bleeding forever to set up my neighbour has just done it

I will start planning that for Girl Guides if I get started with it now

It doesn't sound that taxing does it really? Your DD only needs help some of the time at brownies (eg she will be fine to sit in a circle and sing or whatever they do) and only to go to the loo at drama? Have I got that right?

Maybe go for £10/week and buy her a Christmas present/gift voucher? Cheaper but will show that you appreciate her?

the teen is the way to go. That leads to evening babysitting and they love you when you give them money.
