As in, lights out, phone away? At the moment (so sort of term time in that they have school work to do, but not term time in that they’re not having to be up and our early)

Thanks

8-8:30 bedtime for reading. 9pm lights out.

Wow my 7 year old doesn't even go to bed at that time. Do your dc not do any after school activities outside of lockdown? We often don't get home til 8. My 10 year old doesn't finish guides til 9.15

My 14 (nearly 15 ) doesn't have a bedtime he goes when his tired anything from 10-2am at the min , but his not up all evening on tech . As long as his work for the day is done it's fine.

Scruffyoak · 19/05/2020 23:21

Any time from 11-1am

Scruffyoak · 19/05/2020 23:21

8.30? Mine are allowed out with friends later than that in the summer.

My 13 & 16 yr olds currently go to bed when they like which is anywhere between midnight - 2am and they get up up around midday.

It's a mild pain in that often my 13yr old is having a shower at midnight Hmm and eldest is blabbing with her pals "on call" and finds everything loudly hilarious at 1am. I'm a night owl too though and go to bed around midnight/1am, if the eldest is being too loud I just tell her to shush and that's usually enough to remind her to pipe down!

Youngest is 8 and even he's not going to bed until 10pm and getting up around 9am.

Before lockdown, about 10ish. My younger son (11) does gymnastics 4 nights a week until 9 so our evenings are later. Now they are in their rooms anyway watching tv or playing video games, they go to sleep about midnight. I never take the 14 year old’s phone, he’s good at self regulating. My sisters and I never had set bedtimes, we just had to be in our rooms and quiet when our parents were in bed.

In theory phone downstairs at 10, then read or whatever until tired. In reality it's often nearer 10.30 and if we're watching a film together it can be later.
It makes a difference if it's a paper round day as ds will choose to take himself to bed at 10ish if he knows the alarm is going off at 6.45.

RedskyAtnight · 29/05/2020 18:15

Probably 9.30/10.00 in normal times. She goes when she's tired; we don't have a set bedtime.

These days, when she feels like it.

lazylinguist · 29/05/2020 18:15

9:30, with phone on charge in another room.

My 14yo dd has been going to bed around 10 over lockdown, she gets up just before 9 to do Joe Wicks!!

Once she's back at school I'll aim to get her into bed for 9-9.30.

Dontrainonmyparade · 06/06/2020 08:28

My 13 y/o goes at 10pm, my 15 y/o by 11pm. Weekends we don’t take phones overnight so I expect they flex it and stay up talking with friends. Weekdays we set times because we felt we needed to have a sort of ‘normal’ routine, though if they were getting up to catch buses and get to school in normal times it used to be 9pm and 10pm respectively.

OneToThree · 19/06/2020 16:58

Ds 13 comes off all tech about 8.30 and comes downstairs to watch tv with me. We both go up at the same time, 10.30/45 to read for 15 mins or so.

Whengodwasarabbit · 19/06/2020 20:01

My 14 yr old dd goes whenever she’s ready to. Usually very late she’s become almost nocturnal. She’s really enjoying the new found freedom and independence. She’s been cooking and baking and going on long dog walks.
Her form tutor rang yesterday and told us shes completed all the school work, I haven’t had to nag her once.
She said yesterday that she feels so much happier and less stressed. She got taller and her hair is so long. I think all the extra sleep is doing her good. She has her moments but I’m really proud of the way she’s adapted, especially as I’ve been working throughout and then caught Covid myself last month, and I’m still feeling wiped out.

LynetteScavo · 20/06/2020 20:07

At the moment? Midnight. She has two older brothers who are up until the early hours (one is finding it hard to sleep because he's in pain) and DH and I still need our early-ish nights. Every morning when I come downstairs it looks like there has been a party in the kitchen. In September it will be before I'm asleep, so 9-30 10pm on week nights.

daisymay133 · 20/06/2020 20:15

8:30 is ridiculously early

Most teens are still out at that time it’s pure daylight? Unless yo very early they’re surely sleeping too much

I wander how many parents are simply not wanting to have the kids around at night

Most ‘senior’ kids activities wouldn’t finish til after 8-9 round here

Aramox · 21/06/2020 07:43

Yeah explorer scouts (14+) finishes at 9:30! With another 2-3 months til any semblance of normality returns, I’m impressed anyone can enforce rules like bedtime atm. Even saying ‘bedtime’ winds mine up.
