Daughters Eyebrows

Another post from me about my rapidly growing up daughter 🤣. What do your daughters do about getting there eyebrows done as there are so many different types now to have done. She gets a few growing in the middle but just generally could do with a nice shape. Thanks

How old is she? Mine does her own...thank goodness they're not those thick over pencilled ones though!

She's very good at makeup etc. If your DD wants something doing, take her to a salon?

CruellaFeinberg · 03/07/2019 14:42

how old is she?

mummymayhem18 · 03/07/2019 16:16

She's 13 going on 18! Aren't they all 😂 x

@HennyPennyHorror like you say I would rather she could do it herself but I see lots of girls with beautiful looking eyebrows now and I know people fill them in etc. I never have done that although mine are quite thin which I don't like. I might tell her to watch a you tube tutorial lol. I have tweezered the odd few but now she's older she likes to do things herself and is more away of body image x

I bought the Veet precision thing for mine. Its a tiny little shaver that she just uses to trim the strays and shape them.

mummymayhem18 · 03/07/2019 18:34

@FattyBumBum1 that was my other post 🤣🤣,but thanks I will tell her to try it x

I've been getting my eyebrows waxed since I was 12. They don't need as much maintenance now (I can go about 6 weeks between waxes these days instead of every 4 weeks like I did at the start). Waxing is also relatively cheap and quick and the results last longer. Definitely take her to a good salon so that she can get them waxed and still keep a nice natural shape.

mummymayhem18 · 03/07/2019 22:52

Thanks @DieSchottin93 . How much do you pay if you don't mind me asking? X

OP posts:
LadyB49 · 03/07/2019 22:59

I pay £5 for eyebrow wax which includes trimming and plucking any big strong/grey ones.

DieSchottin93 · 03/07/2019 23:05

When I first started getting them done it was £7 I think. I've been seeing the same beautician for over a decade now and it's gone from £8 to £10 but she's bloody brilliant so I don't mind paying it. I'd say £10 is probably the max you'd pay for an eyebrow wax.

dementedpixie · 03/07/2019 23:10

My wax and tint is £8 and just a wax is £5. Dd has had hers waxed a couple of times

mummymayhem18 · 03/07/2019 23:28

Great, thanks for that. That's a really reasonable price. How long does it last between visits?

Er, they don't. They let them grow as nature intended, and get on with living life to the full.

mummymayhem18 · 05/07/2019 20:59

They do. Teenagers are very style conscious and want to keep up with the trends and look good. Nothing wrong with maintaining things. I'm not forcing her, she's asked me to help her and for advice so I am.

HennyPennyHorror · 06/07/2019 02:42

Back Hmm do you actually know any teenage girls? They're not ALL interested in their looks but many are and that's fine.

mummymayhem18 · 06/07/2019 06:03

@HennyPennyHorror ,well said. Smile

I get mine threaded at £5 a go. Lasts ages and very natural shape. They do it in Superdrug or there's a stall in our local shopping centre. It's not exactly glamorous but it only takes a couple of minutes and then you can get on with life and it lasts weeks, maybe 6 weeks?

I can also recommend the MUA (Superdrug cheapy brand) eyebrow pencil. It has a pencil one end and brush the other end. It's £1 I think, and lasts forever, and it allows just a tiny bit of colour to be brushed through to give definition if needed. Still looks really natural (I'm not into the heavy brow look but it stops them disappearing completely). Maybe not suitable for your daughter just now but in a couple years maybe if she is wearing makeup.

perhapsimight · 06/07/2019 06:47

I wouldn't be encouraging it. They look ridiculous.i have 2 dds and neither of them feel the need to do this thankfully.

SunshineCake · 06/07/2019 07:11

I'd see it as a failure if my barely teenage daughter was aware of body image.

dementedpixie · 06/07/2019 07:12

How does getting your eyebrows shaped/ tidied up look ridiculous? Nobody advised HD brows. My dd wanted hers waxed due to having a mono brow

OccasionalNachos · 06/07/2019 07:20

Why are some people so judgmental about eyebrow shaping? Like a PP I’ve Been having mine shaped (usually waxed) since my early teens. It defines the shape of your face & highlights your eyes more. No different to getting your hair trimmed regularly to keep it in good condition.

OccasionalNachos · 06/07/2019 07:22

@mummymayhem18 questions like this can sometimes be better in Style & Beauty, although folk also come on occasionally just to criticise Hmm

mummymayhem18 · 06/07/2019 07:25

@dementedpixie my daughter has a slight monobrow as well. They meet in the middle, not thickly like the rest but she keeps them on top of those, plucking a few.

OP posts:
mummymayhem18 · 06/07/2019 07:28

@OccasionalNachos well said. Exactly I don't see the big deal. I think with like most things there are always going to be some who don't agree and are like "leave it au natural " but like you said it's just like getting a haircut. Maintaining them to look good.

OP posts:
OccasionalNachos · 06/07/2019 07:38

@mummymayhem18 I clearly remember my mum telling me not to pluck mine (she was a teen in the early 70s and her eyebrows were/are very overly plucked) and taking me to a salon to get mine done properly. It’s great your DD is asking you for advice. Definitely get her to a specialist brow salon - there are plenty of them about and it’s rarely more than £10, more like £7 even for super-cool salons in cities. I pay £19 but I get my lashes tinted at the same time.
