Need some advice please...
My 14 year old was chatting to me today while I was weeding and I nearly fell in the bush...
background, first boyfriend and has been with him for 7mths , both 14, nearly 15. they are stuck at the hip when they are not doing hobbies etc...
So basically said to me 'would you be cross if you know I did' ?? I kind of guessed what she meant , so I said I'm glad you can come to me , ( at this point I'm feeling faint) so I said if you are thinking or have gone that far I want you to be aware of protection etc.. she said can I go on the pill! ...
So what do I do? If they are going to (which apparently they haven't yet) but they have spoke about it... then they are going to regardless of what I say, I can't lock her up until she's 16. I have explained you only loose that once so it has to be right and not because she's pressured or her friends have.. she's very mature for her age and I can have in depth conversations with her...
So what do I do now? Do I take her to gp , she's under age so how does that stand? But on the other hand I dont want to her to be in a mat ward or a abortion clinic ..

But why would you be shocked? I imagine the vast majority of results will be negative, but suppose a girl was in the early stages of pregnancy and hadn't realised, and she needed an X-ray or some treatment which could be harmful to the unborn child. It's a safety precaution, not an assumption that all young girls are sexually active.
If you go into any hospital imaging department you will find cartoon posters with a foetus saying "Mum, please tell them I'm here!" The hospital is taking its duty of care seriously.

Feel a bit cringe writing this but have you discussed the other pleasurable and sexual things that couples can do aside from having sex? I had a few friends who lost their virginity young and they literally went from kissing to sex with nothing in between. I was ’heavy petting’ with my boyfriend for quite a while before taking the step to having sex. My mother always said that there's lots of fun to be had without having sex and I actually think it's good way to build trust in a relationship and also to get a better understanding of what being intimate actually means to them on an emotional and physical level. This might not be relevant to them as they may already be engaging in other things but like I said, I had a few friends who bypassed all the other stuff and went straight to sex so it does happen.

My daughter had a day case surgery at Manchester Children's hospital this week and they now have a policy to routinely pregnancy test any girl of age 12 and over, I was very shocked at this.

Maybe it's National policy. I took my teenage dd for a pre-op appointment at a hospital in Kent a couple of weeks ago and the nurse told us that they have to do pregnancy tests on girls who are 12 or older.
DD and I were both a bit surprised by that. It seems sad that there's a need. DD knows plenty of girls who have had sex, but not at 12.

I can't come back to MN Teenagers after today. I know it will just be more of the same yeah, let them take weed, underage sex, trash their rooms and home, its all OK, its what everyone's doing. What a bunch of lazy, self-indulgent parents is all I can say.

I'm sure you'll be missed.
