12yo and period on holiday

DD has been tracking her periods and will get hers on holiday with her DF next month. She's so stressed about this. Does anyone know if the GP will give her utlovan or if it's safe?

She has an older sister who also won't use tampons! But she's tracked her period too and it's not due on holiday.
We all pretty open about all these things, tampon chat is usually pretty funny. It's just us girls living together so maybe that helps with the openness. We just bought some new bras today. I have a bar of travel soap I will send with her on holiday just in case to rinse out any accidents with blood - cold water is a great one thanks I didn't think of that!

Following with interest as DD will possibly have to cope with periods on holiday this year. I am hoping she will try tampons in the next few months and get used to them by then. I was also thinking that having some swim board shorts might be an idea for days when they are feeling a bit self conscious.

Thats my plan - tablets and swim shorts. She tried (applicator) tampons but I'm not sure she put it in far enough as it felt uncomfortable also she wouldn't do it when flow was heavier as didn't want to get messy hands but then I think when flow wasn't heavy it wasn't the right time to try it and it felt uncomfortable. I've tried giving more describing tips about the depth they need to go but it's a right knack that takes AGES to grasp IMO.
