Would you let your 17 year old go and stay with boyfriend at uni?

He has half term at the end of October, and would like to go and stay with boyfriend who's at uni. 5 hours by train. Have been seeing each other since June.

Yes, no brainer for me.

He's of age, could fight in a war, drive a car & get married.

Yes I would. Because tbh remembering what I was like, I would have gone anyway. I wouldn't have even asked my mum because her and stepdad were ridiculously strict. Like PPs, I had no freedom and often was grounded at age 18!! I hated it and resented them for it. I wasn't even a badly behaved teenager Hmm

I was not a badly behaved teenager either I was quite placid and laid back and sensible if they allowed me to be but their unreasonable strictness made me stick 2fingers up and do it anyway.

Not because you're all wrong, but for the sake of balance, no! My teenagers didn't date until they were off and at University. I very much encouraged them to socialise in groups/ not pair up so young.

I did. And for me going to visit my BF at Uni was a boat trip, 2 x 3 hour train journey and finding my way round an enormous city when I grew up on a small island. I felt terribly grown up.

Yes, and tbh at that age I would go even if my mother said no!

Yes, at that age I would go even if my mother disapproved.

Dixie of 3 teenagers none of them did the 'drippy joined at the hip' thing, but went straight to having a boyfriend/ girlfriend once they'd left home thank God
So I think our encouragement worked. Wink

I've got boys but I think I would. When I was a teenager my parents used to stop me from doing stuff, so I would just lie and do it anyway!
