I'd be more likely to start it dearest fluffybunnykins and sign off lots of love, mummykins.

but I am very childish and this is why my children are ashamed of me.

still. I am an improvement on my mother, who always draws a loo on the top right hand corner of her every communication to us.

DrNick · 11/02/2014 07:34

I just signed it with my initial and thought " hey thats odd'

My mum used to do " p put washing out. M' ( both her initial and Mum obv) then draw a cats face

Mummy :) obviously.

(I don't have teenagers yet, but a pre teen, and I fully plan to sign everything love mummy xxxxxx until they leave home!)

ToFollowJulie · 11/02/2014 07:36

I usually sign off "Mx". DH's initial is D, so it's the same either way for him.

Chopchopbusybusy · 11/02/2014 07:38

Surely the only acceptable way to communicate with a teenager is by text? DD2 occasionally berates me for not putting kisses on my texts though.

Catsmamma · 11/02/2014 07:39

last note i left was a bit of a Howler. so that was signed

CrossMamma and with a cross little face right next to it to emphasise the point.

but then a smiley face with a kiss underneath, just in case I got run down by a bus and Crossface was the last thing they ever had from me.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 11/02/2014 07:42

I generally text, but written notes are only signed with an 'X' - apart from the fact that no-one else would be leaving them a note, my handwriting is pretty distinctive. They'd know it was from me.

ThreeBeeOneGee · 11/02/2014 07:43

M. Or M&D if it's from both of us.

No kiss. I wouldn't dare.

DrNick · 11/02/2014 07:46

ha! Dmitri YOU GOT IT!!Grin

who else would leave them loving instructions about folding the pants and socks?

my mum used to sign 'mum' usually, but occasionally she would absent-mindedly write her full signature!

Littlegiraffe · 11/02/2014 08:03

I usually sign Mummy x but I have been known to stick laminated reminders all over the house with things I've asked to be done (tidying bedroom) or asked to stop (ie leaving umpteen pairs of shoes under the stairs) signed by "the management" Smile such as "This area is not a shoe dumping ground. Persistent offenders may face eviction" (these often apply to DH & my dad)
I sometimes I use DSs fridge magnet letters to leave messages for DD or DD. These messages are usually very immature though.

MrsSquirrel · 11/02/2014 11:24

I never sign them. It's blindingly obvious who they are from Grin

ToffeeOwnsTheSausage · 11/02/2014 11:35

I usually put Mummy but I have left a note for DD today and haven't signed it. Partly as it says A Note From My Name on the top and partly because I was cross with her this morning .

ReallyGoodDrawer · 11/02/2014 12:38

I don't have teenagers but when my brothers are back from Uni my mum still leaves them notes in rhyming couplets so will sign off with whatever fits in with the rest of her poem best Hmm.

I wrote my 5yo a note and signed it off with "The Boss (mummy) xxx" I might just stick with that Grin

AtiaoftheJulii · 11/02/2014 12:43

I write Mum if anything, and it feels really weird, so usually blank. They call me a mixture of things, but signing myself Mummy doesn't feel right any more either.

thegreylady · 11/02/2014 22:48

Still Mumx even though they are adults. It would never occur to me to sign my own initial to one of my dc no matter how old. So leaving a note today for dd after I had poorly dgs: " Dgs had Calpol at 10.45 and 2.45. Temp between 37.5 and 38 but eating and playing. Love and stuff Mumx"

pancakesfortea · 11/02/2014 22:52

I'm 38. My mum still signs herself Mum in notes to me. I guess its a job for life.

Custardo · 11/02/2014 22:53

i dont sign it

because there are not an abundance of note writing individuals

in fact i am the only one that writes notes

Meow75 · 11/02/2014 22:56

When I was at uni, my Dad went through a phase of sending me postcards, and me always used to sign them with his initial, M.

When I asked him why, he said that his name is "M", not Dad, and particularly now that I was older, referring to himself as Dad felt odd.

Ok, I said, but I don't now use his name when I speak to him. He seems ok with that 17 years later!

jennifersofia · 11/02/2014 23:06

All of the above (poor confused child!)

Starballbunny · 11/02/2014 23:16

Mum x
Texts occasionally Mm name because that's what my phone does automatically.

nooka · 12/02/2014 05:00

We have a white board for messages and neither dh or I sign it :)

My father used to get his secretary to dictate letters to us (usually about financial matters, but still) and then sign them 'love [special dad name]' Always made me giggle, but his handwriting was almost illegible.

MedusaIsHavingaBadHairday · 13/02/2014 22:26

Mum or 'your MOTHER'Grin if they have done something terrible !!!

Mine (16.19 20 and 22) still call me Mummy if they want something, mind :)

BackforGood · 14/02/2014 14:30

Same as ISeeYouShiver in the first reply Grin

Megrim · 14/02/2014 19:55
