hi there, i'm a script writer currently working on a screenplay with teenage girls in but I'm aware that me teen slang is a bit out of touch!! (i'm 36 and my son is 2 so not quite there yet in picking up the lingo).

i've looked at some of the teen slang threads - very funny! but would love to hear more about current teen slang from mums of teen girls especially - particularly what 2013 equivalents of words like 'shagging' and 'up the duff' might be - both feel too 90s (when i was a teen ha!)

Any help much appreciated.

DD's friends on facebook tend to add an additional vowel and lots of 'y's to the ends of words. For example, 'with Grace' becomes 'wiv Graceeyy xxxx'.

Not sure what DD puts on facebook as I'm not allowed to be her friend. Why I'm friends with some of her friends, I'm not too sure....

If one of them says something to another which is a triumphant put-down, likely to gain the respect of their friends, then one of the observers will say 'Oooh burn' or 'would you like some ice for that burn?'. It's bizarre, I know.

RobinSparkles · 18/08/2013 15:33

Hench - I think this means buff/toned/fit. My 14 year old DN flexes his muscles in the mirror saying, "mum, do I look hench?"

monikar · 18/08/2013 15:40

A part of the body can be hench in its own right. For example, 'he has really hench eyebrows/arms'.

Ends-as in back on ends-back to where you live

StupidMistakes · 18/08/2013 15:52

Don't forget yard-someone house.

Mumof3wifeof1 · 18/08/2013 18:45

Surprising use of the word "dickhead" as in " my mums a dickhead" I've seen from her friends , was always reserved for male abuse when I was younger!

"Totes" for totally
"Hilair" for hilarious
"Gay" for anyone who annoys them

MrsMeow · 20/08/2013 11:29

Round here they use 'birding' for when someone fancies someone else...ie: John is birding Mary.

And 'beaut' means gorgeous/stunning. When I was in school it meant you were a minger!

Oh and all the girls fawn all over each other. Everyone is 'beaut' or 'gawjus' (ugh) or a 'stunnah'

And a friend is a 'mert'

Other than that I have no idea, my teenager may as well be speaking Chinese to me. I only understand every fifth word or so!

On road - on way/outside.

I think.

dexter73 · 20/08/2013 16:20

Is outraged slang for out of date?

And by far the most amusing is " tea bagging" meaning bjs apparently ( due to the 2 tea bags resting on ones chin)

More tea vicker?

bellabom · 20/08/2013 19:01

YOLO is a big one.

We were watching CBBC with my youngest the other day and the presenter was saying "totes" and "amazeballs" and the 14 year old was scoffing at her and calling her "sad" so that might be for young teens?? Basically you can blink and it's all changed.

I said something was "sick" the other day in front of 14 year old and friend meaning that it was disgusting and they both looked at me like I was mad. One said "Erm, you do mean in a bad way, right?!" because to them "sick" is good. But I think it's spelt without the "C" Confused

They call girls slags and sluts A LOT as well which I absolutely detest.

dexter73 · 20/08/2013 19:11

Tea bagging is sucking someones balls not a blow job. (Why do I know this?!!)

bellabom · 20/08/2013 20:16

I thought that dexter Grin it's like dunking them in your mouth like teabags in cups

BCBG · 20/08/2013 20:27

Qualifiers - like 'Oh my Days!", "i'm not even joking' (I'm serious), "Not gonna lie" (I'm serious)
