On Thursday Ds chose a top in Top Man and I bought if for him when I went to the shopping centre later in the day.
He tried it on again at home a couple of times but didnt actually wear it so all tags on etc.
This morning he took the top back to top man and exchanged it for another top. Then went back and told them he had changed his mind and wanted the original top back albeit he got one from the shop floor.
He planned this on purpose so he would have the same top, same size but untried by him.
He has then come home and washed the top - again all part of his over all plan.

Only now after drying the top, will he feel able to wear it out to meet up with his friends. He's 16.

Confused

The mind boggles.

He does realise that any top from the shop floor will have been tried on by countless sweaty boys though? Grin

I havent the heart to point that out! It's only a bloody £14 top anyway. He has now put the heating on and carefully lain it on the radiator.

That is very strange Confused

For friends, read girls. NOW you'll have a clearer picture.

rainbowinthesky · 02/06/2012 11:52

Nope, not about girls. He had a girlfriend last year and finished it himself and has no interest in having a girlfriend. I don't doubt he wants to look good though for girls.

OP posts:
rainbowinthesky · 02/06/2012 11:53

Sorry, contradicted myself there. I am sure he is partly doing it so that he thinks he looks his best and of course to look good for girls.

That all seems a trifle odd, I have to say! Unless he did something narsty to the original and just wanted to get a new one to cover up the damage that he'd accidentally done to the first one?

HecateTrivia · 02/06/2012 11:57

That is actually quite odd, in all seriousness. What was he worried about?

rainbowinthesky · 02/06/2012 11:58

Nope, no damage to the original. He has displayed other oddish behaviour over the years and I do have another thread going about dh and his asperger tendencies.

Dh has just noticed white specks from a tissue which must have been in the drum at the same time so has quickly used sellotape to get rid of the specks.

rainbowinthesky · 02/06/2012 11:59

He thinks it looks odd otherwise and he cant wear it otherwise.

I also have a half brother who has aspergers.

colditz · 02/06/2012 12:09

Ah. I see. I would worry, because this behaviour alone isn't life interrupting, so unless there are other, bigger issues, I'd just leave him to it.

colditz · 02/06/2012 12:09

I wouldn't worry, I mean

Mrsjay · 02/06/2012 12:10

Do you think he may have OCD sounds quite strange thing to do its just a top well of course to everybody else but to him there is 'something' going on ,

rainbowinthesky · 02/06/2012 12:18

I dont worry about him as he oddities dont impact on his life ie he has lots of friends, works hard and does well at school, perfectly happy.

rain my eldest has some Odd quirks she is 19 not diagnosed with anything just a bit quirky think a watered down sheldon on Big bang theroy thats her , If you are not overly worried and he doesnt seem stressed or anxious then I would just scratch my head when he does strange things , is he happy now with his top ?

rainbowinthesky · 02/06/2012 12:25

Dont know yet. He has just got his yellow towel from the line outside that was washed last night in preparation for drying his body today.

Having a diagnosis in his case would make no difference to him. He has quirks and oddities but these dont impact on his day to day life.

youarekidding · 02/06/2012 12:27

He sounds quirky and fun, obviously it's something in his mind and it seems logical to him and as you say it's not affecting his life I'd not worry too much.

MrsJay - I LOVE Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory. Grin

rainbowinthesky · 02/06/2012 13:12

Should also add he has also today washed his hair using Alberto Balsam Raspberry conditioner which is the only conditioner he will use due to the texture it leaves his hair in despite then putting gel on it. I bought the strawberry version once and he took it back to change it for the Raspberry version.....

I was thinkin Aspergers and then saw your post about it.

rainbowinthesky · 02/06/2012 13:22

He's gone out now and I dont know if he's wearing it or not as missed his departure. He did say it got fucked up.

OP posts:
suziez · 03/06/2012 18:08

Is this obsessive compulsive behaviour?
Sounds like a need to control...probably ok so long as it doesn't start taking over his life.

mirry2 · 03/06/2012 18:11

Agree with Suziez

suziez · 03/06/2012 18:14

Sorry just read the whole thing..

suziez · 03/06/2012 18:16

A lot of Teenagers are weird...and dont have to be pathological...they are just strange little creatures trying to find themselves...Sometimes it works,,,and sometimes not.
