Look, I am old and I'm tired. I am the mother of a teenager.

There's this lovely, lovely thread about Christmas stockings for teenagers and there are some great ideas, but I'm really struggling to remember all of them, so would it be awfully non-MN and cheeky, if I could ask you to add your ideas to a list? It'd make my life so much easier! Grin

I'll start it off, from what I can remember. (This'll be like the generation game conveyor belt and trust me, I won't be winning the big prize! Grin)

Nutella
lottery scratch cards
favourite honey (that's personal, but at least I remembered!)
socks
smellies

Stuck already! Cut and paste just the list - we don't need my ramblings cluttering it up! Grin

Thanks peeps!

Girls are so easy..
cupcake-making kit
mini booklight
mini fairylights
mini salamis/beef jerky
washbag

catawampus · 10/11/2011 23:38

ukelele

BertieBotts · 10/11/2011 23:42

Boy ideas (I'm sure girls would like these too though):

Pack of cards (for drinking games and poker nights)
USB gadgets (can get mini yoda, fairy lights, mini hand/foot warmer, battery recharger, etc etc)
Car stuff if they have a car
Novelty headphones for iPod etc (Google DCI novelty ear buds - too many designs to list but including burger & fries, volume knob, skulls, flies, disco ball, lego, lots of cute animals, gemstones, lips, cupcakes)

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 10/11/2011 23:46

Hot chocolate, mini marshmallows and squirty cream.

DioneTheDiabolist · 10/11/2011 23:46

Some personal vouchers would be good too.

A voucher that gives the owner a meal out with the parent of their choice.
A voucher that gives them a day off their chores.

I don't have teenagers, but I remember how horrible it is to be one and I would have liked these.

melodyangel · 11/11/2011 10:01

Boys are easy - They are always hungry so just fill with food!

DandyDan · 11/11/2011 10:02

My boys have bought themselves sets of screwdrivers lately to muck about with the innards of their computers/xboxes so that's a possibility (esp. the tiny screwdrivers you can especially get for both these machines);

Duck tape. Weird but yes. One son made himself a wallet from duck tape the other week (instructions on internet); and somehow they just use it on stuff.

other stuff I've put in -
Pot Noodles
Tins of favourite soup
Jars of olives (for neat eating)
Nice cleansing wipes
Mini-umbrella
Glow-sticks
Sugar mice

This is a lovely idea for a thread.

I am like Maryz and buy a selection of useful crap.

Am I the only one who puts a tangerine and a handful of nuts in the stocking?

My stepson is 25 nearly and still gets a stocking - I put in a couple of Jack Daniels miniatures, some comedy underpants (River Island do some shocking ones, and Primark), socks, fake kiddy tattoos (Idon't know why), smellies, shampoo, hairgel, some studs (he has piercings), lots of chocolate, an ugly cuddly toy, fart putty and other oddities from Hawkins Bazaar, hair dye).

DD is 15 - smellies, vaseline (they are doing a creme brulee vaseline pot this year which she will LOVE), perfume, cheapy jewellery on special offer from sainsbos or wherever, coloured pens, stickers, nail polish, false eyelashes, hairspray, knickers, socks, hair bobbles, a pot of bubbles and other hawkins bazaar stuff)

They also get new pyjamas and slippers, and selection boxes, and a Lindt thingy.

RomanSindastone · 11/11/2011 10:27

I LOVE the idea for duck tape for boys "somehow they just use it on stuff" Grin

brilliant ideas maruz, and I can't believe I forgot the obligatory chocolate coins.

I love Christmas, and I love Christmas with teens. It's great fun (but is actually a bit crap as they sometimes beat me at Monopoly, Pictionary and Scrabble Angry).

I am the undisputed Monopoly champion, but I am afraid that my dd is as much of a loser competitor as me, so she will beat me one day. DP and dstepson are useless at it, and only play to humour me and DD, and to laugh at our Monica Geller rages Grin

ExitPursuedByaBear · 11/11/2011 11:38

Its Duct tape

Right you lot. Are these as well as a main present(s)?

RomanSindastone · 11/11/2011 12:01

It's duck and duct isn't it? Isn't duck the brand, and duct the generic (like Sellotape and sticky tape).

Yes all this crap stuff is in addition to the main present.

I know. It does add up.

Tip is to get a very small stocking (not that I adhere to that tip btw) Grin

mumeeee · 11/11/2011 12:12

A. couple of years ago I gave DD2 a pack of printer paper for her printer ( we had bought her a printer for her birthday). She was 19 at the time and in her first year at Uni. In fact I might do that again thus year as she is now in a final year and has a lot of stuff to type up and print out. I've also bought hot chocolate and coffee.

mumeeee · 11/11/2011 12:19

The stockings are as well as main presents. DD2 and DD3 still use their Christmas bags they got when they were little. They have about £20 presents and nothing over £5 ( well it might be £6 this year. They only have one or two of the more expensive gifts. Most of it is only a couple of quid. DD1 24 and her DH will be having a small stocking each thus year as they are coming to us ion Christmas Eve.

RomanSindastone · 11/11/2011 12:20

mumeee I can imagine doing stockings for my two when they are in their 40s Grin

ExitPursuedByaBear · 11/11/2011 14:52

So what main presents are your teenagers having this year? (Sorry if I am derailing the thread).

Mine wants a camera. In blue.
