My new tattoo - what do you think?

Inspired by Avatar which is my favourite film (in case you don’t get it). It’s the most ‘out there’ one I’ve had and is much more for me than my others. It’s obviously just been done so the white isn’t as visible as it will be because of a bit of oozing.

My new tattoo - what do you think?

I really like it. It’s delicate and sharp and you can still see your skin. It looks really well done too.

vipersnest1 · 10/05/2025 22:55

Admittedly it does if you don’t get the reference, but in my defence I think there are plenty of less attractive tattoos out there….

Oh, I didn't mean to imply it was unattractive. It's nicely done.

iwentjasonwaterfalls · 10/05/2025 23:05

I like it!

I’ve used bepanthen on my others and I’m also going to use second skin on this one. Another tip is to scratch the skin near the tattoo - it really does work. That way you are not harming the tattoo but satisfying the itch!

Yeah I had second skin on both for about 3 days which definitely helped! Tattoo goo after that
my arm was more sore than I thought

vipersnest1 · 10/05/2025 23:12

@MissAndrey, no offence taken!

It looks like a lampshade

I’ve never seen a lampshade that looks like it, but if that’s your opinion fair enough!

I’m not sure if people are just being polite but my initial reaction was WTF.

If you like it that’s great and all that really matters but I’d be pretty sure the average person would think it’s pretty awful.

It looks like one of those tingly head massager things.

That’s what I thought it was too.

OneGreenViewer · 10/05/2025 23:23

Nice tat. What part of the body is it on?

Gymnopediegivesmethewillies · 10/05/2025 23:34

It’s pretty big but it’s better than the stupid one my daughter has had on her back.

Feels good to ‘say’ that out loud!

Are you pleased? That’s all that matters really!

BunnyLake · 10/05/2025 23:36

My son has tattoos and I have a small one on my shoulder blade that I forget is there. I watched Avatar year’s ago but don’t remember any of it so don’t know the reference. If you love it then that’s what matters.

Back of left calf

One of my DCs has a massive death’s
head moth on their back! Not the most beautiful thing IMO but their body, their choice once they reach a certain age.

I like your concept but not too impressed with the tattoo artist, the top and bottom bits should be more precise

TaggieO · 11/05/2025 00:11

Also thought it was one of those head massagers. Sorry!

Yep, unfortunately that’s true!

Death’s head moths are beautiful though.

You’re brave getting a tattoo, I thought about it once but never had the nerve. My ‘D’H suggest I had an orange tattooed on my butt cheek as then I’d have texture too 😂😂😂😂

vipersnest1 · 10/05/2025 22:45

@Devonshiregal, I have posted a picture so I’m not sure why you can’t see it when others can? The white is there to highlight parts of it (when you can see it of course.)
@TeenyTotAndTiny, I haven’t posted on AIBU, so if you fancy provoking a row, it’s that way ——>
Other wise, do try RTFT dear. 🙄

I was asking another poster if you check the post, not you. Though I can’t see the white? I think you’re rude and even the nicest tattoo on someone who is rude isn’t going to make them a nicer person. Also, why ask opinions if you don’t want opinions? Next time don’t ask ‘what do you think’, ask ‘give me positive feedback’.

vipersnest1 · 11/05/2025 11:46

@Devonshiregal all I can say is wow. I’m not sure how I was rude at all.

OP posts:
JudgeBread · 11/05/2025 11:55

It took me a minute to figure out what it is, because either the seed is massive or the arrow is tiny.

The arrowhead looks a bit wonky too but that might just be the bend of your leg.

It's nice though, good linework, and the important thing is you love it and it's meaningful to you!

holliway · 11/05/2025 12:05

vipersnest1 · 10/05/2025 22:52

@TeenyTotAndTiny, I could ask ‘do you mean to be so rude?’ Otherwise, use your nice words. 🤣

You asked what people think or was that a rhetorical question? I ‘think’ it looks pretty awful but to use my ‘nice words’ op I’ll miss out awful and just leave it as it looks pretty so not to offend answer the question

Edited

Seriously why the need for shit like this? Just nasty for no reason at all.

it’s nicely done OP and I like tattoos that only people who know will know what it is. (Does that make sense? 🤣)

Tangledweb717 · 11/05/2025 12:29

Your comment would be valid if I’d made an unsolicited remark but that’s not the case.

Why ask for feedback if you only want positive responses or want people to lie?

The problem with tattoos is the permanency that leads others to pretend they are OK even when they patently aren’t.

If the OP suggested a new outfit that was similarly bad everyone would tell her unequivocally to change it.

@vipersnest1Not to my personal taste, but I love the delicacy of it and also there is a personal meaning behind it 😊
