Help needed - one cream flower for hair to a wedding - yes or no?

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 20/06/2010 21:24

I have a gorgeous cream linen dress with aqua embroidery all over, with an aqua silk trim and a bolero from Monsoon that I plan to wear to a wearing in a couple of weeks.

I want to wear something in my hair which is collarbone length - thinking of having loose waves held back by one cream fabric flower as I can't find a match for the aqua anywhere.

Help me, all ye who know these things - is this social suicide at a wedding, or would it be OK?

if you were wearing all cream then yes is a faux pas but since you are not i think its a lovely idea

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 20/06/2010 21:37

So something like this might be OK?

Yes, that's right, I'm the bride wearing a cream and aqua short dress with an aqua bolero.

Tip when using MN - read the posts.

This cream alice band with flower looks gorge, as will you.

carriedababi · 21/06/2010 18:25

tip for yourself, don't be rude to people trying to help.

you said a wedding you are going to...
you didn't say as a guest or bride.

get over yourself.

traceybath · 21/06/2010 18:26

Personally I think cream flowers are a little too bridal.

Could you go for something sparkly instead if you want something for your hair?

Plum - helllooo! Was wondering where you had got to today.

carriedababi · 21/06/2010 18:26

oh and thast flower, looks naff

traceybath · 21/06/2010 18:28

Despite Carrie's style icon being Peter Andre

She is correct about the flower - Plum's link was nice though.

That flower doesn't look naff, it's fine.

If you're the bride you can wear what you want, only rule is you must like it and feel confident in it.

It wasn't clear from your title and OP that is was your wedding, you referred to it as 'a wedding'. Was youir tuip comment intended for yourself or for carrie?

traceybath · 21/06/2010 18:35

Hang on - are you the bride? I thought you were a guest?

Very confused now.

If bride - the flower is fine but if a guest its too bridal.

iCooed · 21/06/2010 18:37

The bride sounds like a wanker to me.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 21/06/2010 18:39

mmm you're nice OP

BoysAreLikeDogs · 21/06/2010 18:42

Here's a tip when using MN

post accurately

look :

'I have a gorgeous cream linen dress with aqua embroidery all over, with an aqua silk trim and a bolero from Monsoon that I plan to wear to a wearing in a couple of weeks.'

okay a typo on wearing, perhaps you meant wedding

carry on

'I want to wear something in my hair which is collarbone length - thinking of having loose waves held back by one cream fabric flower as I can't find a match for the aqua anywhere.

Help me, all ye who know these things - is this social suicide at a wedding, or would it be OK?'

No mention here of you being the bride

Ho hum

so you can have a parp and a big fat 4 to boot

carriedababi · 21/06/2010 19:04

oh, one last tip, before i go, i wouldn't worry about what your wear being "social suicide", your personality will have that covered for you.

JaxTellersOldLady · 21/06/2010 19:12

bitchfest ahoy!!!#

MMSC - I would go for something with an aqua tone, check accessorize, or NExt. I wouldnt wear cream in your hair.

Will have a look online and see what I can find for you.

Sure you will look lovely... whether the bride or a guest.

JaxTellersOldLady · 21/06/2010 19:14

how about this OP?

minipie · 21/06/2010 19:26

she is NOT the bride. she is a guest.

any bride would call it "my wedding" or "our wedding". not "a wedding". (and definitely not "a wearing" ).

OP, not quite sure why you were rude to carrie, who was making the valid point that your outfit will look rather bridal. Especially since your OP seemed to be asking whether you'd look too bridal with a cream flower in your hair?

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 21/06/2010 19:29

How on earth did you find that?! I was on Glitz4Girls last night and didn't see it - thanks for much for the link, I do appreciate it

OP posts:
Maisiethemorningsidecat · 21/06/2010 19:30

Sorry - should have clarified - I am a guest. I certainly didn't mean to be rude - obviously misinterpreted her "white dress, white flower, are you the bride?" comment.

OP posts:
JaxTellersOldLady · 21/06/2010 19:31

no worries Maisie, I just went a surfin' as you do...

I think I am the Queen of online shopping!

Maize · 21/06/2010 19:32

I have worn a cream flower to a wedding and it was not bridal at all (was not my own wedding!!)

I assume your thing about the bride was sarcasm?!

Go for it you will look fine.
