Ideas please.

What sort of thing should i go for?

(not necessarily new, i surely must have something in my wardrobe).

A jersey dress if you have one as pretty crease-proof.

Elgoogreven · 26/05/2010 18:39

Mmm, i have a jersey wrap dress that is too small in my wardrobe.

I've just looked.
I do have a jersey type dress but it's paisley patterned and a bit wintery. Only looks good with boots and can't pack them.

I also have a 100% silk dress but it's sort of crepey silk that might be nice. it is similar to this by the same designer but has a more floaty skirty of the same fabric

The only other alternative is a LBD from coast, but it won't travel well i don't think, and i would have to be sure that i didn't gain any weight in the 3 weeks beforehand.

I think the silk is the best bet - you can hang it up in steamy shower and hopefully any creases will drop out.

seeker · 26/05/2010 19:56

Ghost I backpacked with Ghost dresses several times - they hang out beautifully and always look wonderful. And they go on and on for ever - I still wear one that must be 20 years old!

duckyfuzz · 26/05/2010 19:58

I second ghost, v flattering and crease resistant

traceybath · 26/05/2010 20:10

Someone linked to this on another thread as being super-flattering.

It would travel well and look suitably glam.

Depends on the look you want though. I have this dress which is fabulously flattering and very va va voom. Would travel well but is rather £££.

Elgoogreven · 26/05/2010 20:49

traceybath that purple one is lovely and i have the perfect shoes. just can't do it though.

the red one is nice too. i am very pale skinned though so not sure about whether i would suit it.

seeker · 26/05/2010 21:01

Oh please get the blue Ghost one - I think it's lovely, but I'm too old for it!

traceybath · 26/05/2010 21:03

Seeker - you can't be too old for ghost. I always think its a slightly more mature label.

hettie · 26/05/2010 21:04

tried on this and the fabric is strechyand would travel very well....

Elgoogreven · 26/05/2010 21:33

i don't think it'll suit me seeker. i need a bit more structure to a dress.

OP posts:
seeker · 26/05/2010 21:43

tracy - you have no idea how old I am!

teafortwo · 26/05/2010 21:47

Instead of stuffing it in the rucksack you could buy a dress in Paris.

traceybath · 26/05/2010 21:48

Unless you're over 80 Seeker - am sure you would still look fab in ghost.

In fact you could still be over 80 and look good in it.

Too much mutton worry in S&B at the moment.

Elgoogreven · 26/05/2010 21:49

stop it teafortwo! that's not helping!

really don't want to spend lots of money.

OP posts:
Elgoogreven · 26/05/2010 21:50

i'm 32, 5'3" and am a 14/16

OP posts:
seeker · 26/05/2010 22:07

You don;t need more structure in a Ghost dress - they have some sot of magic in the cut - i promise!

Elgoogreven · 29/05/2010 21:06

sorry seeker,i'm bumping this thread. the ghost dress isn't cutting it.

cornsilkcottagecheese · 29/05/2010 21:10

That purple Vivien Westwood dress is gorgeous

cornsilkcottagecheese · 29/05/2010 21:11

You need something that won't crease at all I reckon. Something ...polyester. I have the perfect dress if you are size 10.

Elgoogreven · 29/05/2010 21:15

not a size 10 no.

yet!

OP posts:
cornsilkcottagecheese · 29/05/2010 21:25

I'm not any more either - it hangs in the wardrobe to taunt me.

Elgoogreven · 29/05/2010 21:27

alas yes, i have a perfect size 10 polyester lbd that would scrunch up nicely.

the irony being that if i was a size 10 it wouldn't bloody matter what i wore.
