what a cow!

I read your other post - at most you'll probably have to get the colour you've got lifted out and then have a new colour put on it (it happened to me when I was at Uni!). Ask how much it would cost to have this done then at least you'll have an idea what the cost is likely to be.

Even if it's expensive it'll be worth it cos you'll feel so much better afterwards

Disenchanted3 · 13/05/2010 10:07

I'm not going there now.

Problem is that was one of the cheaper ones in the area.

what happened in the first place? (missed the other thread) surely there's someone on here who can advise you???

maybe post a pic and we will come to your rescue! goo mn!! we can do it

BudaisintheZONE · 13/05/2010 10:11

Did you get a chestnut colour like glasgowmandy suggested? She seemed to know what she was talking about.

animula · 13/05/2010 10:14

Disenchanted3 - is this about your hair, or is other stuff stressing you?

One day with slightly wobbly hair will be OK - so go and get the skin test thing today. If you've been dying it for years, they probably won't make you do it anyway. and then you're into the world of free hair colouring and cuts.

MrsRhettButler · 13/05/2010 10:17

i did mine RED yesterday! its sort of a purpley red!

whoingodsnameami · 13/05/2010 10:17

Can you find a mobile hairdresser to come and take a look?

atworknotworking · 13/05/2010 10:19

What happened to your hair DIS ?

Whats your area, maybee a Mnetter hairdresser can pop over and rescue it.

atworknotworking · 13/05/2010 10:25

Oh just found the other thread.

I would go for a chestnut as well it has a red tone.

MrsRhettButler · 13/05/2010 10:26

sorry, i just found your other thread,

i used l'oreal paris chromatic technology ultra deep violet number 3.66 dark red

it came out very dark but very red, have you tried another yet this morning?

ABatInBunkFive · 13/05/2010 10:28

Do you have a local college nearby that trains hairdressers?

I bet they'd help and cheaply.

atworknotworking · 13/05/2010 10:29

ABat the local college want a 48hr skin test thingy.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 13/05/2010 10:32

The trouble is, they really can't advise over the phone. They need to get a look at your hair and the state it's in before they can tell what it's safe to do to it or what will even work. Look at the huge range of advice you've had here from people who haven't seen you or had a chance to have a feel of your hair.

onepieceoflollipop · 13/05/2010 10:37

Is it that you don't want to go in there (and possibly be patronised further) and then feel really embarrassed when they say £50 (or whatever) when you will then have to say that you can't afford it?

If this is the case, I would go to another hairdresser (try one of the ones that are less trendy iykwim, the one that is popular with the older ladies round here has some very kind staff, with loads of experience). Go in (with a friend if possible) and say that you aren't sure if you want anything doing with your hair yet, you might leave it to settle. I know that's not true but it means you are not put in an awkward position financially. Then ask them could they give you a rough price if you decide to have it done.

Good luck.

Disenchanted3 · 13/05/2010 11:04

I put the other colour on, its a darker red but still very light, too light for me

I'll have to leave it like this for a few days, I can't dye it again, it will fall out!

Thanks for the kind words though x

I didn't ignore mandys advice but my DH was already gone with no mobile with the instructions to buy the same dye as yesterday.

lucykate · 13/05/2010 11:13

have posted on your other thread again, but just wanted to say when i did my hair with the lightening kit (hair is naturally dark blonde but for about a year, i dyed it chestnut brown, i wanted to go back to blonde so used it to strip out the colour so i could then dye it a mid blonde shade!), it took 2 goes before the dye took. first time, it didn't change at all, and the second time (which i did a few days later) it was still a lot lighter than i wanted but was at least beginning to take the colour.

MummyTo2MonkeysAnd1Bug · 13/05/2010 11:18

Disenchanted - Hi i just joined mumsnet yesterday, have been lurking but thought i should reply to your thread!!!

Im a fully qualified colour technician - just currently on maternity leave!

Right first things first i need to ask a few questions to get a bit of an idea of the current situation then hopefully i can help!!!

  1. Which brand prelightener did you use??
  2. Which brand of red tint did you use??
  3. At the moment how does your hair feel?? Does it have an odd feeling to it almost like damp chewing gum, and is it difficult to get the brush through it? Or does it feel fairly soft with minimal breaking?
MummyTo2MonkeysAnd1Bug · 13/05/2010 11:20

Oooh forgot to ask can you post a fairly close up pic of your current hair??

MummyTo2MonkeysAnd1Bug · 13/05/2010 11:24

Ooh and another thing - when you bleached your hair what was the result - was it a warm yellow based blonde or a cool platinum/white base?

(Sorry about the multiple posts - baby brain is in full force at the moment!!)

lucykate · 13/05/2010 11:26

oh my!, a bona fide colour expert!!, we may need your input over here, i started a thread for reviewing home hair colourants

oh and welcome to mn!

MummyTo2MonkeysAnd1Bug · 13/05/2010 11:28
