How much longer can I get away with opaque black tights?

For work.

Should I now be wearing natural tights?....I'm always a bit about them. They remind me of my mum. Bare legs aren't an option. Should I just go for summer trousers?

I ditched the opaques today.

I felt silly and over-exposed in the morning (bare-legged) but great by this afternoon in the sun.

Trousers probably easier!

LynetteScavo · 30/04/2010 16:28

Eaugh! the thought of my bare leggs, all dry and white...it can't be done yet.

I think I need to go trouser shopping, then.

Coloured opaques aren't as, um, gloomy. Way too sooon to do bare legs - the light's all wrong.

EldonAve · 30/04/2010 16:32

move onto leggings

cornsilk · 30/04/2010 16:32

I have the same dilemna. Too soon for bare legs for me.

LynetteScavo · 30/04/2010 16:34

I think I need someone to convince me natural tights are OK.

cornsilk · 30/04/2010 16:36

Yes me too.

EldonAve · 30/04/2010 16:37

natural tights are fine
just avoid shiny ones and ones that are too dark

cornsilk · 30/04/2010 16:38

do you wear them?

thelunar66 · 30/04/2010 16:39

Am watching this with interest. Any suggestions for 'decent' natural tights?

Love my opaques for work and I am dreading putting them away.

aquavit · 30/04/2010 16:47

yes yes

the m&s autograph 7 denier ones (ladder resist, cost £3.50 I think - that's as much as I can remember but it was enough for me to find them in among the bazillion kinds of nude tights in M&S)

they are GREAT

you would have to really perve at someone to tell they were wearing them

mind you the bright young things who live around here wear opaques all summer long if the weather is chilly

jamaisjedors · 30/04/2010 16:47

I usually wear natural tights to work.

You need to get the shade right.

Several times people have touched my legs because they don't believe me that I'm wearing tights - go for something like this

It covers any bruises (clumsy) or less than perfect hair removal.

cornsilk · 30/04/2010 16:48

AQUAVIT - What shade are they?

aquavit · 30/04/2010 16:50

I wear natural tan - I am pretty fair but not ghostly

there is also a really pale shade for porcelain types

and some darker ones

SuSylvester · 30/04/2010 16:50

i wore FIULL winter gear today
blardy hell where do you al live?
i wore a vest, top and a cashmere jumper today

SuSylvester · 30/04/2010 16:51

jeans and boots

cornsilk · 30/04/2010 16:51

all my jumpers are packed away - think I jumped the gun a bit really

SuSylvester · 30/04/2010 16:51

i am in three layers and a jacket

aquavit · 30/04/2010 16:52

that is why a clothes filing system on the bedroom floor is a good idea cornsilk

tho it is quite nice and warm here (Oxford)

omnishambles · 30/04/2010 16:53

Am in black tights and winter boots with 50s-style dress today - its ok - far too nippy to not.

Have also got some coloured opaques on standby as the BYTs in the office are indeed wearing them...

SuSylvester · 30/04/2010 16:53

i put winter stuff away at may half term.
cast ne'er a boot till may be oot

GetOrfMoiLand · 30/04/2010 16:54

It's blazing sunshine here.

Put all my winter stuff into vacuum bags at the weekend

Am waltzing round in sleeveless tunic dress and jacket, and sheer skintone tights.

Now. Advice please. I am very pale, I don't do tanning at all, and have given up on fake tan now. What do you think is best for bare legs - white milk bottles, or fake tanned (even thoiugh the rest of me is white). I don't want to look like a twat.

GetOrfMoiLand · 30/04/2010 16:55

I like puttinh all my winter stuff away. If it gets cold I will just cope

SuSylvester · 30/04/2010 16:56

WHERE are oyu?
in teh south west its cool
13 degrees

GetOrfMoiLand · 30/04/2010 16:59

Gloucester. It's lovely, pissed down for 20 mins at lunchtime and is now like a summer's day.
