Pls help me find soft silver ballet flats!

I've seen two people in silver ballet flats, which look so soft and comfortable. Unfortunately haven't been in a place I could ask them where they got them from, so wondering if anyone can help me hunt them down? They were quite a shiny silver and very simple ballet style flats. TIA.

Next

M&S

I have the M&S ones and live in them at the mo.

MaggieW · 28/04/2010 15:19

Thanks for that. They're for me. The ones I saw look like the softest leather uppers, but like the M&S ones too.

Russell and bromley have really beautiful ones in children dept which go up to about age 6...

minipie · 28/04/2010 15:22

I've got some really really soft matt silver ballet slippers.

they're from topshop, last year (they may be doing them again though).

downside however is they aren't really suitable for outdoor wear and get scuffed very easily, plus the soles are very thin and you can feel every stone.

pagwatch · 28/04/2010 15:22

size 6 not age

chardom · 28/04/2010 16:22

I have soft silver ones from Next and they are gorgeous and comfy. would highly recommend them.

muchchocolate · 28/04/2010 16:43

I would second the M & S ones - bargain price and v v comfy.

mangoandlime · 28/04/2010 17:24

I have these Next square toe ones, very comfy

Lotkinsgonecurly · 28/04/2010 17:27

I got some from Matalan about 2 years ago, £8. THey're not particularly comfy but ok for a wander round in.

janeite · 28/04/2010 18:03

I have some from Clarks and after a couple of days wearing them in (when they made me bleed) they are now as comfortable as wearing slippers: I love them.

MaggieW · 28/04/2010 19:31

Mangoandlime, I'm a big nervous about elasticated backs as had some years ago and they kept pinging off. Do yours stay put?

MaggieW, yes they really stay put, very like normal shoes, you wouldn't know they were elasticated when they're on, my first pair of elasticated backs, quite impressed.

cocolepew · 28/04/2010 19:48

I got some in Primark last year.

MrsMotMot · 28/04/2010 19:56

Absolutely agree with pagwatch. Russell & Bromley kids. Great quality, comfy and good price for the quality.

My pump ventures in Primark/Topshop etc are always disasterous- they make my feet sweat, they dye my feet and they fall apart!

French Sole do gorgeous pumps but pricey, very small fit and the slippiest soles imaginable. Have tumbled (sober!) many times! Their website seems to be down at the moment.

Cabatach · 28/04/2010 21:11

I got some in Gap kids as have size 5 feet. They were £16.50 which is much cheaper than the adult ones I have seen!

darkandstormy · 28/04/2010 22:48

have some from primark, not at all cheap looking, but they were......6 quid so comfy too, get down there ,bargain.

MaggieW · 29/04/2010 12:05

Thanks everyone for that. I went to M&S this morning and have bought their ones. They are fab - really soft and comfortable - and only £19.50, so a really good buy. I had some Primark ones in pewter, which I'd worn to death, and they were good too, but the M&S ones are much softer. Also managed to find some Converse style shoes in the girls section, which have replaced my knackered Primark silver sparkly ones. Thanks to all.

Disaster - and a warning re the M&S flats. I wore them out last night. They were super comfy and I walked around a mile in them with no problem, until it started raining and I found out, as I hit the ground, that they have no grip on the bottom, so I slipped as I walked along the pavement! Unfortunately it resulted in the top part of the shoes being scuffed beyond repair and a hole in my new jeans. Absolutely gutted!

Oh, no Maggie! I am going to look at the Gap kids ones as I have the Gap adult ones and they are perfect - nicely cut around the toes(not too high not too low) and so comfortable they are like slippers. Naturally by the time I realised I should get a back-up pair, they stopped selling them.

BallpointPen · 30/04/2010 12:57

Oh poor old you MaggieW, what a disaster!

I was just coming to recommend M+S girls silver pumps(if you have feet small enough for kids shoes), I bought some for DD and they are very soft and comfy but she's not worn them in the rain yet, perhaps she'd end up on bum if does!

OhCobblers · 30/04/2010 13:46

MaggieW i suggest you try taking them back (do you still have the receipt?) and tell them what happened and say you'd like a refund. Just explain how uselss they (the shoes) are.

I took back a pair of M&S tweezers just recently (only £5) but they were utterly useless - had no grip at all - and i told them that plus i didn't have the box and i was given a refund no problem.

i recently took back a pair of combats to Gap having worn them once only to discover tha the tiny belts on either side that pull the trousers taut, to help them stay up, didn't have grip and kept coming undone.
they gave me a refund too!

but i always keep receipts (in a box) and "tell" them i want a refund rather than "ask" for one! give it a go!

biddyofsuburbia · 30/04/2010 13:50

I got the M&S silver ones 2 days ago v. comfy (better than the boden ones I got which have taken a lot of breaking in) But as Maggie said plastic soles which have zero grip. Good value all in all I think but having read that post I won't be wearing them in the rain any time soon.
