defineme Would you put him in the pink pear one?

No, it is obvious they are "girls clothes" and you will be setting him up to have the micky taken out of him. I know in an ideal world we should all be able to wear what we want, but kids can be very cruel and I would not do that to my DS. My grandmother gave my DS a lovely jacket for Xmas this year but it has a bright pink hood and lining. I feel terribly ungrateful because she meant well but it is obviously a girls coat and he would be crucified at school if he wore it. Please don't put your DS in these clothes

Notalone · 22/04/2010 09:32

PS - the green apple one would probably be ok for boys btw. But not the others

If he's old enough to express a strong preference himself, or young enough not to be able to understand when people think he's a girl then yes. Otherwise why on earth would you want to? They are girl's clothes from the girl's section of a catalogue that has some fab things for boys in it!

screamingskull · 22/04/2010 09:45

Agree with Notalone.

The apple one is not too bad though

MrsJohnDeere · 22/04/2010 09:51

No. Too girly.

trice · 22/04/2010 10:03

If he was a tiny tot it would probably be ok to wear the apple one. If I saw a little boy in that pink pear thing I would feel a bit sorry for him and judge the mother for using him for her own agenda. If I saw an older boy wearing it I would assume he was aware of his own identity and that would be fine.

I love the new look boys clothes honeydragon. I didn't even know they did boys clothes. They don't in our local branch. Thanks for the link.

Fliight · 22/04/2010 10:12

Well I don't like any of them tbh. Not for girls or boys.

umf · 22/04/2010 10:14

Depends on age?

The apple one, yes. The pattern's great for a preschool boy. Except it looks like it might have a "girly" cut/shape?

Polarn och Pyret in London, Cambridge and a couple of other places are good for bright, non-gendered children's clothes. But only in the sale! Or with one of the 20% off vouchers they send to mailing list.

waitingforbedtime · 22/04/2010 10:18

The apple one - yes, The pear one - nope and the hoody - nope its a girly shape. Ds (3) did have a very similar t shirt though until recently.

Clary · 22/04/2010 10:29

How old a boy?

I might do the apple one if he was pre-school. It is v v white tho so maybe not practical.

No way would my DS1 (10) wear any of those.

NB Boden Ts for girls are cut quite slim ime and generally look girly (not just wrt pix/colours).

nappyaddict · 22/04/2010 13:05

Fllight Why don't you like them? Just curious BTW not taking offence or anything!

Fliight · 22/04/2010 13:25

I'm curious as to why you're aksing!

I don't like the colours on the pear one, not keen on the pattern/colour combo on the hoody thing, and too much red on the apple one. I dislike things with big red splodges on because I'd think my children had injured themselves! plus the white bit would be really dirty.

nappyaddict · 22/04/2010 14:26

Hmmm I hadn't noticed before about the 3/4 length sleeves. Those that said yes to the apple one, did you notice the 3/4 length sleeves? I don't think I've ever seen boy's tops with 3/4 length sleeves so now I'm thinking the cut is maybe too girly?

IngridFletcher · 22/04/2010 14:35

No because they are a bit girly, particularly the pear top. There are plenty of colourful and funky boys clothes if you look in the right places, H&M, Gap, Zara and online. This is particularly true if you are willing to spend Boden type money.

I have got some lovely pink but boys tops from Zara and Gap recently.

seeker · 22/04/2010 16:15

Why not buy him boy's clothes?

SusieCarmichael · 22/04/2010 16:19

i can't see the apple one

but i do agree that the cut of them look girly

MrsMotMot · 22/04/2010 16:44

I think they're a bit girly too, cut especially. This is (one of) the things that irritates me about mini Boden actually- girls is SO bloody girly, all gypsy skirts and pink frills, and the boys is skateboards and camo. I loathe camo, it is for the army!! Even amongst the baby things there is very little that could be unisex.

Rainbowbabies is good quality and colourful, and if you're feeling (very) flush then Nordic Kids do non-gendered colour. Poor boys always in blue, mud, brown... um... khaki...

andlipsticktoo · 22/04/2010 16:52

Yes only to apple one - under the age of 5.

No to the others.

That New Look one is revolting!

SuSylvester · 22/04/2010 16:53

LOVE apple one

TulipsInTheSunshine · 22/04/2010 17:02

wouldn't put any of my kids in any of them tbh.

pink one hurts my eyes (literally... i've a headache coming on and it made me squint)

apple one i can imagine in a weeks time with the apple all cracked and manky and the white gone grey

the hoodie is horrible, looks cheap and colours are unpleasant.

minipie · 22/04/2010 17:14

How old is he? Can you show him the pictures online and asks if he likes them (or is he too young to understand that)

if he likes them then why not.

KiddingAnxiously · 22/04/2010 17:18

No no and no.

Pink one and hoody one too girly. Apple one too white, it would get stained and manky looking very quickly.

mathanxiety · 22/04/2010 17:22

Even the apple one is too girly. Boys' clothes tend to be cut differently, even without the colour demarcation. Girls' clothes tend to fit a bit tighter.
