30 minute poll - What colour short Hunter wellies should I buy?

MisSalLaneous · 07/04/2010 22:46

Well, I've saved up, have tried them on in store, and now need to order a pair of Hunter wellies.

I can't make up my mind regarding the colour though, so I'd love to hear your opinions.

It would be used for camping and walks in the park with my toddler mainly, so I don't need long ones. Whilst I like long ones, I think the shorter ones might be more practical as easier to get on and off.

I love the look of the purple or black glossy ones, but worry that they'll go scruffy and ugly quickly (and I'm not planning on buying new ones next year).

Next favourite choice is matt dark green or matt navy. Hmm, actually, also like the Aubergine matt ones.

What do you think?

I'm rubbish with deciding on clothes, no wonder I hate it so much! I've got cheap no-name ones at the moment and they hurt me, so I have to get something better.

overmydeadbody · 08/04/2010 08:38

chimchar · 08/04/2010 08:44

navy.

why short?

PlumSykes · 08/04/2010 08:48

navy

MisSalLaneous · 08/04/2010 19:31

Thanks, navy it'll be then!

I prefer the look of longer wellies, but it's so much schlepp to get on or take off, so thought I'd just go with the short ones.

I've tried searching for pics where people wear them, but can't really find any. I really hope it won't look horrendous...

Probably too late to add to this but I have navy in the knee high version and don't find them at all faffy to take on and off (despite having healthy-sized calves )

MisSalLaneous · 08/04/2010 21:24

Hey tuple, no, not too late - me being me I still haven't ordered them (promised myself I'll def buy last night ).

What to do?!?! Do you think I should skip this whole short thing and just do proper length ones instead then? Will these short ones look like capri pants on the fat-of-bottom (i.e. me)?

shopalot · 08/04/2010 22:16

You do knoe you can get them for half that price. Will find you a link.....

shopalot · 08/04/2010 22:21

here

shopalot · 08/04/2010 22:25

I did find the women's ones at £25 ish but can't see them now. Depends what size you want.

shopalot · 08/04/2010 22:28

IMHO the short ones are easier to tuck your trousers in but in the snow for example they are short so the snow goes over the top. Depends what you are using them for really. I walk the dog through mud so long boots are fairly essntial for that otherwise you get loads of mud up the back of your trousers. Also in pouring rain there is less trouser to get wet between bottom of jacket and top of boots.

Sherbert37 · 08/04/2010 22:32

I have navy long ones and they are the most comfortable boots ever. Like the navy because it is not too showy.

MisSalLaneous · 08/04/2010 22:34

Thanks for that, shopalot! Yes, you're right, I've looked at that and done some further searches, and the prices vary considerably! I'll look around a bit.

My counterargument for less "mud coverage" was that, wherever I walk with them, I'd have ds (2) in his toddler boots with me, so if it's over the top of the short ones, I'll have bigger problems than dirty trousers. However, the rain point stands...

Navy

MisSalLaneous · 08/04/2010 22:39

Sherbert, do you have "normal" ones? I'm started to sway more towards long ones now, but have encountered the additional problem called Huntress... Mind you, I don't really have proper calves, so maybe normal ones better.

Navy. Class.

TheCrackFox · 08/04/2010 22:42

Navy but I don't like the short version.

MisSalLaneous · 08/04/2010 22:44

Uhm, I should probably not admit this, but I almost bought lime coloured ones last night. In the bright light of day I did thank my lucky stars I didn't!

I'll stick to the navy ones now. I'm not remotely exciting enough to wear wacky colours anyway, not sure what happened in the thinking process there... Perhaps (very very very) delayed teenage rebellion?

OP posts:
Sherbert37 · 08/04/2010 22:50

I think mine are the standard longer ones. I don't have wide calves but they are narrower than say the Joules wellies I had before. Personally I would go for the long ones as I do very muddy walks with the dog. Think short ones can look a bit stumpy.

MisSalLaneous · 08/04/2010 22:54

Ok, I'll go longer. Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate your help.

Which one between these two? (Out of stock, but I'll search where in stock once I've decided on style):

Long navy adjustable
or
Normal long navy

OP posts:
MisSalLaneous · 08/04/2010 22:56

I like the look of the buckle on the adjustable one better. Not sure whether it would be dirtier (i.e. mud stuck in folds)

OP posts:
TheCrackFox · 08/04/2010 23:00

Long navy adjustable.
