The coming week?

If so check netweather and buy this

PortBlacksandDweller · 28/03/2010 18:21

Unfortunately you don't get him included in it...

overmydeadbody · 28/03/2010 18:24

If you have the money get a thick down North Face or similar.

Or any good quality ski jacket should do.

Make sure you have waterproof trousers and gaiters too if you are planning on venturing outside. And waterproof boots.

navyeyelasH · 28/03/2010 19:13

What's your budget, I will help you properly this time!

cheeryface · 28/03/2010 19:27

short of cash unfortunatly, was thinking up to £50 but something tells me im not going to find what i want on that budget!

navyeyelasH · 28/03/2010 22:01

cheryface, I would try ebay if I were you.

Lutyens · 28/03/2010 22:15

Are you camping or trekking or any other outdoor activities? If not, then any old wind-cheater or mac + brolly will do for strolling around National Trust properties and rustic pubs.

PS. I live in S Wales, it's not as wet as people make it out to be

SixtyFootDoll · 28/03/2010 22:17

I live in S Wales and IT IS as wet as people make it out to be!!!1

Lutyens · 28/03/2010 22:19

Oh all right then Maybe I'm just easily pleased as I love Welsh weather. It's the cheeriest of all the places I've lived in.

Just me then...

SixtyFootDoll · 28/03/2010 22:24

Well we had a lovely sunny day today depsite the forecast saying heavy rain all day.
Was wonderful

cheeryface · 28/03/2010 22:35

i think we may be doing a bit of walking amongst other things. not sure how many indoor things there will be.
dont want the weather to spoil it.

JackRabbitBauer · 28/03/2010 23:04

South wales is that wet

But it isn't normally windy and cold as well, just a normal raincoat woudl do it, or one of those 3 in 1 jobboes with a fleece liner if you feel the cold.
Proper shoes are much more important IMO, which is why you never find me on teh Style and Beauty threads...

SixtyFootDoll · 28/03/2010 23:06

YEs I lived in Swansea for 3 years and never once had a good hair day!

JackRabbitBauer · 28/03/2010 23:20

Make sure you have coats with GOOD hoods (ie that don't fall back at the slightest breeze) proper wellies and extra clothes so that you can change when you get wet.
Waterproof trousers are very handy for toddlers as well.

How old are your children? TBH I am in the southa dn have never been to the north coast so I am probably not the best person to ask

cheeryface · 29/03/2010 08:20

my children are 11 and 14. we have waterproof walking boots and ds1 already has a waterproof craghoppers coat so think hes ok.
i DO feel the cold so am intending to buy a fleece to wear underneath but still need to find a suitable coat

FiveOrangePips · 29/03/2010 10:24

When do you go? This might work? It is cheerful, looks roomy for wearing layers, but light enough to carry around, if it is mild.

Do you have a winter coat? I would take that too as back up if you are really feeling the cold. How much do you want to spend?

cheeryface · 29/03/2010 11:33

yes, looks nice but maybe too chilly. didnt really want to spend more than £50. we go on the 5th.

Buy this immediately. Weather in north Wales absolutely shocking today. Also get wellies, and warm socks.

cheeryface · 29/03/2010 11:54

thanx , that looks just the job, bit expensive though!
will i really need wellies ? think my walking boots are waterproof

OP posts:
JackRabbitBauer · 29/03/2010 12:09

You think?

Buy wellies! Even £10 job ones from b and q will be better than boots if they let the slightest bit of rain in while you are walking then you will blister.

GrimmaTheNome · 29/03/2010 12:28

Good walking boots should be waterproof, but give them some extra treatment before you go. IMO wellies are rubbish for walking in, but if you must, make sure you get ones big enough for 2 thick pairs of socks.

Proper kit really does make all the difference. DD lives in her berghaus fleece and waterproof (you can usually find kids stuff in sales). I wouldn't go on holiday anywhere in the UK without my goretext walking jacket.

In the words of Billy Connolly, there's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing.

Have a great time!

cheeryface · 29/03/2010 12:34

ha great, hoorar for Billy connelly! I think hes brill

i need to find somewhere that sells this stuff cheap!
