ladies

i HAVE to share something with you.

it might sound a bit strange but i was reading somewhere that brazil nuts are REALLY good for your skin and the article recommended that you eat 3 a day, as its meant to give you noticeably better skin. as well as having other health benefits (cant remember what they were - i was sold on the skin bit!)

anyway i bought a big bag last saturday and have been eating 3 a day as suggested, and i dont know if it is a co incidence but my skin looks AMAZING. its "glowier" and i am sure it looks more plumped up and its slightly shiny but in a good way if that makes sense!!

They did a nut (brazil/macadamia/walnut) and salmon diet on some women and their skin was amazing after a couple of weeks.

Probably all the essential fatty acids and good fats.

usualsuspect · 20/03/2010 14:12

Would chocolate brazils work?

nowherewoman · 20/03/2010 19:41

I've got some brazil nuts that I can never be arsed to eat, thanks for giving me a great incentive

brimfull · 20/03/2010 19:42

nah don't believe it

you're probably pregnant

brimfull · 20/03/2010 19:42

pfft and you're only 29!

Maggie00 · 20/03/2010 19:43

I must do that. Looked in the mirror the other day and thought my skin looked rough. I have cod liver oil capsule every day already.

ClaireDeLoon · 20/03/2010 19:52

Ooh I have some brazil nuts in will try them, my skin looks very washed out and dull at the mo so it's worth a try.

Thanks for that.

My herbalist recommended them to me for good stuff in them for getting pregnant too.

can vouch for the brazil nuts. The odd handful of almonds and occasional half avocado also works wonders!

mummee09v · 20/03/2010 20:33

oh i definitely am not pregnant!!! lol.

and i am ( sadly) now 30 not 29 (must update profile!)

oooh i love avocado's! perhaps i should eat more of them then too.

yeah i can definitely tell a difference. me and my dp got very drunk last night then only had 6 hours sleep as the DC's were up at stupid o clock and previously if i have a drink or a late night it shows on my face the whole next day but i am proud to say i looked fresh as a daisy -smug emoticon- ...i will be keeping it up.

would be interested to hear how you others get on who were going to try it.

macadamia nuts have got healing properties in them, it's also used in some hand and skin creams.

belgo · 22/03/2010 09:45

Macadamia nuts and skin care (from wikipedia):

Macadamia oil is prized for containing approximately 22% of the Omega-7 palmitoleic acid,[6] which makes it a botanical alternative to mink oil, which contains approximately 17%. This relatively high content of "cushiony" palmitoleic acid plus macadamia's high oxidative stability make it a desirable ingredient in cosmetics, especially skincare.

I remember looking this up because I accidently bought hand cream made with mink oil in Belgium. I didn't use it of course once I had translated what it was.
