why wouldnt you just wear work clothes to school?

OP posts:
farmerjones · 11/03/2010 17:36

maybe if i had a nanny and a cook and a cleaner and someone to wash and iron my clothes and the kids clothes. oh, and a driver to get me to and from school and work so id idnt have to do any effort in getting to work. even then, i wouldnt wear two separate outfits for this.
sheesh

claricebeansmum · 11/03/2010 17:36

Holy crap!
What working mother has time to do the school run - change clothes - and get to work?!
If they could incorporate a dog walking outfit too then I would be impressed

mrsflux · 11/03/2010 17:37

WTF is wrong with the DM??
They really are bonkers! They did a similar article a while back.
How many working mums actually behave like this? I never have time to think in the morning. Never mind put together 2 outfits!

Pinkmarshmallow · 11/03/2010 17:38

i agree... in the last set of pics it seems you even have to change your handbag after the school drop-off!

JackSpratt · 11/03/2010 17:40

Its very complicated walking/driving to school.

It obviously requires specialist equipment

Like a cardigan.

MayorNaze · 11/03/2010 17:43

which is which?

traceybath · 11/03/2010 17:44

I'm sure I read that article months ago - am I going mad or have they just literally re-done the same article?

CMOTdibbler · 11/03/2010 17:48

They did do the same article with different clothes a couple of months ago.

I don't do a school run yet, but having just picked DS up from day nursery (he is chasing the cat watering the garden with DH atm), one of the dads was telling me that he has a nursery run outfit - oh yes, take note DM - he puts on clean boots to go in.

BouncingTurtle · 11/03/2010 17:54

Clearly these women live in a different planet.

My whole wardrobe costs less than the dress in the second pic.

blametheparents · 11/03/2010 17:55

What load of bollox!

TeaOneSugar · 11/03/2010 17:58

ffs.

JamAndPeanutButter · 11/03/2010 19:05

What are you all talking about?! Surely everybody changes handbag between school and work? The £345 one would never do for the office!!!

Personally I keep another change of clothes at work for going out and buying my lunch too.

Ironic that the only women who'd find that article useful are ones who probably have someone to do the school run for them... and dont have to work.

YanknCock · 11/03/2010 19:08

Another one here who can't tell the different between the school-run outfit and the work outfit. Is it supposed to be obvious?

nappyzonecantrunfortoffee · 11/03/2010 19:10

I have a big blue regatta coat with 4 pockets, one has undies for when ds pees himself, one has tisues for dd constant snotty nose, other my purse and cards and other my work id - simples . I wear this over my work clothes which cost about hmmm £15 with my kickers. I am a follower of fashion NOT!

Lancelottie · 11/03/2010 19:11

Pretty pumps for the school run? Pretty cream pumps??

bowbluebell · 11/03/2010 19:14

Do you think two outfits are strictly necessary if one works from home?

Perhaps I could just wear the school run outfit under my house coat....

vesela · 11/03/2010 19:19

But working mothers have to have different clothes for the school run and work, otherwise they wouldn't have enough juggling to do, you know? We can't make things too easy for them.

BalloonSlayer · 11/03/2010 19:22

But I thought everyone did this?

If you have a dress with a bow on it, you must not show the bow to SAHMs you may meet at the school gates. It will make them hate you. Therefore it must be covered.

This is elementary where I live. As is having not just one handbag for the school run and one for work, but also one for the gym and one for popping into the paper shop on the way home. It is important to maintain standards.

Also Dolce and Gabbana must not be worn in the mornings before Spring Half Term. Fake tan season begins in the third week of May - and NOT before, you know who you are. Coloured toenails are not tolerated, French pedicure only, thank you.

I can only imagine the rest of you posting on this thread shuffle up to the school gates in your pyjamas or something.

JackSpratt · 11/03/2010 19:22

Wimmen are essentially dim little creatures.

They may forget they are at work unless they have their heels on.

Hence the two outfits.

Fact.

duckyfuzz · 11/03/2010 19:23

good grief, this is obviously where I've been goign wrong, if only I'd known!

What a palaver. Don't you just wear jeans and boots if you're not working?

SixtyFootDoll · 11/03/2010 19:38

PMSL at this 'article'
What planet are they on?
AFter school drop off am I doing 80 up the dual carriageway in the vain hope of getting into work ON time, how am I supposed to change my outfit?

CalmCalmCalm · 11/03/2010 19:46

Whawah, my thoughts exactly. Or jeans and trainers/birks in summer, obviously.

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 11/03/2010 19:49

Fnar - I've often to be seen whipping my clothes off/on in the car enroute to work/school whilst driving.
