I am assembling a gift for a friend for a treat to help her through the nightmare first few weeks. So far I've got:

Rations: Champagne

Camouflage: High Beam by Benefit

Uniform: Spanx High-Waist Power Panty

What else should be in?

(maybe High Beam out Touche Eclat in)

What products did you need to survive?

Tinted Lipbalm!! Or one of the ones that doubles as blusher to

displayuntilbestbefore · 07/03/2010 23:17

A tin of Spam

displayuntilbestbefore · 07/03/2010 23:22

Sorry, wasn't being infantile by suggesting Spam but I recall my SIL couldn't get enough of Spam sandwiches when she was BFing her dd so it might be a treasured nugget in your survival kit

crumpette · 08/03/2010 09:45

floradix
breast pads
some nice mascara
I second the touche eclat
some really yummy shower gel & shampoo
erm

and more breast pads

crumpette · 08/03/2010 09:51

oh and some really excellent scrummy dark chocolate

I want you as my friend

janeiteisFedUp · 08/03/2010 19:01

Ooh yes to BFB - tis a thing of wonder.

EggyAllenPoe · 08/03/2010 19:10

a hot milk bra & knicker set?

I've always wanted one.

sigh<

though a bit of a personal pressie as you'd have to know her current size

a v. good book (something upbeat, not a time for drama)
seasons 1-14 of ANTM on a USB key so she can watch at leisure...

my maternity jamas were probably one of the better pressies i got (there is a piccie on my profile)

stressheaderic · 08/03/2010 19:17

I know it's been mentioned but Dry Shampoo is an absolute MUST.
A bloody good under eye concealer, some luxury face wipes, hand lotion and lip balm.
Lashings of Dairy Milk, Haribo, popcorn.
A new non-minging dressing gown - this house in chilly at 3am and 5am I've now just discovered.
Drinking chocolate - can be reheated and not taste of ming.

I'm two weeks in, and look like the living dead...
I wish you were my friend OP.

MrsFlittersnoop · 08/03/2010 19:41

Nothing new to add here, but anyway

Bin the Spanx! - think about wearing big pads for several weeks post-partum ). Comfy velvet trakkie bottoms or warm BF-friendly dressing gown/kaftan more appropriate maybe? (Juicy Couture?)

Lovely big shawl for elegant draping whilst lying in state entertaining visitors with babe attached to boobs.

Floradix. Dry Shampoo.

Deffo Champagne in little bottles and lovely chocs (Hotel Chocolat?)

Digital radio. Escapist DVD box-set.

LadyGooGoo · 08/03/2010 21:32

Oooh, lots more helpful posts!

Think you're all right (not often you hear that on MN) I'll get rid of the Spanx. Quite right about maternity pads, don't really mix!

Think am going to theme pressie around the idea of making her look like she's had a nights sleep (since I can't actually give her a nights sleep)

Sooo...

Beauty Flash Balm
Nars Orgasm
Dry shampoo

Now which hide the dark circles thing to use...tried looking for the thread that was around not so long ago, but can't remember name.

Is Touche Eclat worth the money or does it make you dry and scaly?

The Boots No 7 under-eye thingie isn't bad and there's a voucher knocking around at the mo.

kirriemummy · 09/03/2010 01:11

Hello! My little girl is 10 weeks now, and the thing I would suggest is definately good handcream and a big shawl/pashmina. My mum gave me a box of all the food I hadn't been allowed but I loved- smoked salmon/seafood etc, which was amazing. Finally - Take a Break, Heat etc - Her brain will be frazzled!

hope this helps and I wish her luck!

MummyTumble · 09/03/2010 12:04

"Madcow" do some lovely bubble bath and bath/massage oils.....gorgeous smells.

Or Clarins body oil is divine - the smell always uplifts me!

And definitely the Clarins Flash Balm - my kids never slept and everyone always said i looked great .....so unless they all lied

The new garnier undereye supposed to be good.....half the price of Touche...

MummyTumble · 09/03/2010 12:07

Good lord - i meant "Cow Shed" not Mad cow!!!! Sorry must blame late pg hormones!!!!

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 09/03/2010 12:15

Handcream is compulsory. My hands fell to pieces after having DS with all the obsessive handwashing.

slanket you can wear it backwards if you're BFing.
