Hoodies on a 32 year old. Yay or nay?

I used to wear hoodies in my 20s as they were comfy and 'cool'. I'm not sure I feel right in them now. Am I too old to wear hoodies. (I have two nice flowery ones by roxy but not sure if I look a bit teenish in them.)

Nay. Sorry.

brimfull · 05/03/2010 00:14

def nay
specially a flowery roxy one

cashmere grey one maybe

Tortington · 05/03/2010 00:18

i disagree, depends on the hoody.

OBV. if your wearing a black hoody with a slipknot motif, then your going to look a dick, but a nice wool one - and to make it even nicer - worn under a collarless jacket with hood outside of jacket iykwim - i think ver nice.

very much depends on the hoody - there are age appropriate ones

poshsinglemum · 05/03/2010 00:34

Yes- i think that the grey cashmire type ones are the way foward. The flowery roxy ones are a bit too trying to be a lot younger.

Yay - I like hoodies.

higgle · 05/03/2010 07:18

Yes, a Brora one - or the Johnnie B cable one that is sadly sold out. I am 53 and would wear both

I'm 33 and have a few hoodies that I wear. I have a cashmere grown up one and I have 2 casual ones (from Abercrombie and Fitch) and I don't care about age tbh. I like them.

I also have a few sport ones that are for working out in.

nickschick · 05/03/2010 07:57

I have grey and black cashmere blend hoodies I am indeed a fashion guru .

cocolepew · 05/03/2010 08:00

I'm 41 and wear them to work, zip up ones in bright colours and a velvet trim around the hood [ooohhh get me]. I also love my grey NYC one my mum bought me.

RubyBuckleberry · 05/03/2010 08:03

my mil has a gorgeuos hoodie from american eagle - she is 60 odd and looks fab in it.

bishboschone · 05/03/2010 08:05

I am a short young (ish ) looking 35 and I wear them. Not often but if I feel like it. They suit me because I have surfer type curly hair ..thats what I tell myself anyways!!

thesouthsbelle · 05/03/2010 08:05

I have a quicksilver one (zip up) I wear with combats and trainers - but this is for my 'grungy' days, also have 2 which I wear for the gym over my kit to keep warm. it's a yay for me I think if it's in keeping with the rest of you & is trendy.

DorotheaPlenticlew · 05/03/2010 08:10

Totally fine if you choose the right one and if your general look suits it. I covet the Brora ones but they are too pricey even in the sale (I assume they are specifically aimed at the "older" customer actually).

I also think that if you reach the age of 80 and rediscover a desire to wear youngsters' hoodies, eg ones with bands on or Juicy Couture magenta velour, you should go for it. The more ancient you get, the less you should care

overmydeadbody · 05/03/2010 08:11

There are no rules for what you can and cannot wear at any age.

Wear what you want. Forget about what other people think.

I wear hoodies. I even wear them at work!

dinkystinky · 05/03/2010 10:08

Depends on the outfit and the hoodie to be honest. Am 33 and wear hoodies with my jeans and they look fine - but they're in keeping with my casual scruffy style...

miche8 · 05/03/2010 10:33

I have a couple of fat face ones, really nice but as i'll be 31 this year i was thinking i'm probably getting a bit old for this look, so shall keep them for walking the dog and the school run for days i can't be bothered. I do have a nice waterfall hooded cardi that i love, its next maternity and probably the only maternity thing i shall continue to wear, so knitted hoodies yes.

greedygoose · 05/03/2010 10:58

link to cashmere blend hoodies? likey the sound of them...

mountainmonkey · 05/03/2010 11:45

Is there a rule that once you hit 30 you have to start wearing grey cashmere?
Better start saving up for a new wardrobe then!

PoppityPing · 05/03/2010 17:00

Rules are pants.

Wear this one

Age doesn't matter.

TeaOneSugar · 05/03/2010 17:56

I'm 37 and I still love the Jeans and Hoodie look.

I love this one l have it in grey and pink, I like the neckline it's a bit more feminine.

poshsinglemum · 05/03/2010 18:02

I do like a nice hoody. I have a nautical striped Joules one which isn't too ''teen'' but I guess you are right. When is there a right age to wear anything? I'll be wearing my leather biker jacket for years to come I hope.

Also, I've been thinking that cashmere is a pain in the arse to wash. I had a grey cashmire boyfriend cardigan from the Monsoon sale but put it in the wash by accident.
I need something to throw in the machine when it gets dirty.
I think hoodies are great and look sporty. They aren't council estate chic nevessarily (joke)
