From their website it looks as though it could be either. I've seen a couple of things I quite like, but not sure. Can anyone shed any light on this please?

It is a bit Per Una I think. And it is for tall people who like to waft, I feel. I am a short person and not great at wafting.

I have bought a couple of linen-y type things for the summer there before.

Feel a little like I should be an aging hippy on a jewelery buying trip though

MrsPotiphar · 27/02/2010 22:10

"oh lord has it come to this"

BonjourIvressedeNoel · 27/02/2010 22:38

Its for women of a certain age who think they are still cool.

SixtyFootDoll · 27/02/2010 22:39

Too old for me too (I'm 36). But I think the same of Phase Eight and Kew.

emsyj · 27/02/2010 22:53

Frumpy frumpy frumpy.

(sorry)

janeite · 27/02/2010 22:58

Phase Eight deffo v frumpy imho.

BecauseImWorthIt · 27/02/2010 22:59

Was in there today - and definitely frumpy. Much older than I remember it being. I fully expected to see elasticated waists and crimplene.

traceybath · 27/02/2010 23:00

Have only ever glanced in window and assume its frumpy.

choosyfloosy · 27/02/2010 23:03

Frumpy. Especially at the moment, it is massively off trend. It looked a bit less frumpy when the gypsy skirt thing was happening. God, was that 5 years ago??

GeorginaWorsley · 28/02/2010 10:37

Jewellwey great.
Now Phase Eight can have some nice bits in,have a black cami from there that I have worn loads plus aome shrug type tops which are grwat.
Also bought a waterfall indigo and cream linen cardigan from there which is great.
The dresses and skirts are too long on me though,so frumpy.

brimfull · 28/02/2010 11:02

frumpy
they do the same style all the time just changing the fabric

Chandon · 28/02/2010 17:02

for the over 50s.

said · 28/02/2010 17:06

I bought a dress from there over 10 years ago (in the sale, v cheap). I look like Stevie Nicks or Morticia in it. I hang on to it on case I get invited to a fancy dress party. Every time I've look since it's been awful

glinda · 28/02/2010 17:32

Oh God. I am 45. Can someone tell me where I should be shopping the if I am to look neither frumpy, nor mutton dressed as lamb?
BTW I am largish and not wealthy.

deaddei · 28/02/2010 19:49

Very frumpy.
I am 49 and have only ever bought jewellery there.
Very expensive too.

My 67 year old mum loves it and looks fab in their stuff. I (38) would not shop there.

cyb · 28/02/2010 19:56

frumpy.

Altho I have spotted the odd good acessory and have a huge chunky wooden necklace from there that I wear constantly round my huge chunky neck

glinda · 28/02/2010 20:19

THEN WHERE?????? (Feeling desperate)

janeite · 28/02/2010 20:23

Right. I am 40. I agree that it is hard to find things without spending a fortune. I get most of my clothes in:

M&S Autograph and Ltd Collection (although Ltd is quite revolting lately);
Gap for jeans and for skirts, occasionally dresses;
Warehouse for silk dresses and camis;
French Connection in the sales;
A few bits in Oasis (but it's mostly horrible and over-priced);
a v few bits in Hobbs recently (very expensive);
a few bits in various concessions in House of Fraser.

glinda · 28/02/2010 20:36

My dd shops in Gap, French connection and warehouse. Hobbs is out of my price range.

I think of M&S as much more frumpy than East.
I used to work for a clothes manufacturer who supplied M&S. When you see how many thousands of each garment are made it puts you off ever buying them.

Lilymaid · 28/02/2010 20:58

I had a discussion about this with friends this week.We are all 50s and 60s and like some of the stuff and find other bits frumpy. But real frumpy is M&S Portfolio range.
