I hate my body. Please help

Reading the are you beautiful thread, yes I truly believe I am ugly.

I somehow manage to be skinny and gawky yet flabby and celulitey at the same time.

I have pasty blotchy skin and excessive body hair (in my wedding photos someone thought my arm was a mans)

I have no breasts and skinny boy legs. I have cellulite down to my knees and a flabby arse and stomach. I hate being so skinny but when I put on weight it adds flab not bulk.

I would never wear a bikini or swimsuit, I refuse to take my children swimming because it would mean being seen in swimwear.

I won't even wear shorts/short skirts in summer because I hate my legs so much.

I won't go for a tan/wax because people would have to see me.

clothes look shit on me

I'm sick of hating the way I look so much. i am setting a bad example to my children.

I know I need to address this.I have considered going on look good naked etc but there is no fucking way I would show my face on tv.

I need help.

I can't think of one thing I like about my body

Thanks, I really appreciate you spending so much time on me

I think that girl has good legs, I see mine as more angular and less feminine but I can kind of recognise that it is probably my own issues telling me that rather than how they actually look iyswim (maybe like reverse anorexia?)

You have a great, body, legs that 99% of mumsnet wish they had - honestly. I think that you should speak to the GP to get counseling because you have such low self esteem due to comments you have had in the past. You have a nice flat stomach and lovely bustline, you should be proud of the way you look. You are very brave to post your pictures.

Exercise will definitely lift your spirits, are you able to join a gym/leisure centre at all, the classes there will help motivate you, even the gyms run by councils have really good facilities and classes these days.

A lot of the fitness instructors at my gym have cellulite and they must be doing around 20 - 25 hrs of exercise a week. It doesn't matter though, they are still fit and healthy and look great, cellulite is not ugly or a bad thing, it's just the way we are made.

BessieBoots · 20/02/2010 11:22

Your photos have made me

You've got an amazing bod! What a figure! If I had a body like yours I think I'd do the school run in my bikini just to show it off...

I have times when I feel wobbly about myself, and the thing that helps me is wearing make-up, doing my hair and wearing a skirt, tights and boots. Just making an effort, basically. I did this a few weeks ago and a guy tried to pick me up by the sponge scourers in the supermarket- I know I shouldn't need anybody to tell me I look good, but it did make me feel a bit fanciable for a while.

Lizzylou · 20/02/2010 11:23

I think you have a fabulous figure, honestly.

You need to see someone to talk through your body issues, you are not seeing what we can see from your photos, your Mom's nastiness has skewed your idea of yourself.

Truly, I would love to have your figure!

piratecat · 20/02/2010 11:26

it's how you've been made to feel. I have issues, but i swear to god you look fabulous in comparison!!

I have problem areas, but becuase someone in my past noted them, they became even more of a problem for me iyswim.

oh it was my mother btw !

I now make sure that in NO way does my dd ever get to hear any negativity about her body, my body, anyone's body for that matter. In fact I have told my mother to stop talking about her body issues in my house.

I just noticed the comments how your "friends" said that they couldn't believe how someone so thin could have so much cellulite. They are crap friends and are jealous of you.

Personally, I don't see the big deal about cellulite. Everyone has it, fat and thin and inbetween. I remember obsessing slighltly about mine when DH asked "what is cellulite, then?" He could not believe that people make such a big deal of such a normal thing. The only people that are bothered are those who have it, and Heat magazine. I would never look at someone and think, ooooh, look the cellulite on her!

overmydeadbody · 20/02/2010 11:37

Good Lord girl, I just looked at your pictures and you have a gorgeous body, not at all ugly by any means whatsoever.

What legs!!! I want those legs. and that waist.

And seriously, I can't see any cellulite.

But I know how you feel. I often feel ugly and fat and I know others don't see me this way.

your body is what I'm trying to slim my lumpen specimen into

MrsTittleMouse · 20/02/2010 12:08

Wow!
You have a fantastic body. Now I am hating my body.

Seriously, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your legs, they are gorgeous. I would be in skinny jeans every day if I had your legs.

I agree with everyone else that exercise is the way to go. It's a bit like the breastfeeding comment that you made - when I exercise I am proud of what my body can do and it reminds me that there's a lot more to my body than just how it looks. The babysitting thing is an issue though - I really sympathise. Exhaustion is another issue for me.

It seems like one of the best things that you could do is to make friends in your area - ones that are real friends and who don't make stupid comments about non-existant cellulite to make themselves feel better. Then you would have nice people supporting you, and you would have a chance to set up some babysitting for exercise - even invite someone around and go for a run while she looks after all the DCs, then she goes out for a run while you do, for example. Could the NCT help there?

My goodness.

I would kill for your legs!

And your bottom looks anything but flabby, TBH.

Honestly, you have a great figure.

Am raging at your mother's comments, frankly. She sounds a little jealous. (Not unheard-of with some mothers who have girls)

How old are your kids? Some martial arts clubs take children from the age of five. That's how I started in karate- ds1 and I went to classes together.

You're gorgeous....absolutely nothing wrong with you. I'd swap ya!

alasixesse · 20/02/2010 13:02

I am in shock at these responses. I thought I might get some saying "your bum/boobs are ok focus on those" but you like my body? Seriously?? I can't believe some of you are even saying you want it!

MiniMarmite · 20/02/2010 13:07

Haven't read the whole thread but just wanted to say:

  1. you have a great figure
  2. I used to have quite hairy arms and I felt very self concious about them so I started having them waxed in summer. I felt much better about myself after that and the hairs don't grow back so strong now either so I probably only do it once or twice a year now.
pushmepullyou · 20/02/2010 13:09

Your figure is almost exactly the same as mine.

I think I look fab

PorphyrophillicPixie · 20/02/2010 13:10

I feel like I could have written that For what it's worth, I think you have a brilliant figure.

ComeTwatTheKumquat · 20/02/2010 13:17

You look pretty bloody stunning to me!
You need to get some help to get over whatever issues are stopping you seeing what we all are.

Don't waste any more years feeling like this. Its too sad. You'll look back when you are 70 and think 'wow I was gorgeous'. What a shame not to enjoy it now.

alasixesse · 20/02/2010 13:18

pushmepullyou. What clothes suit you/us?

Pixie are you up for posting pictures?

OP posts:
inveteratenamechanger · 20/02/2010 13:26

You have a fantastic body - lovely legs, pert bum, and a waist too!

I would swap with you in a minute - and I am a reasonable size 12.

To be honest, I'd imagine you could wear almost anything and look like a knockout.

PorphyrophillicPixie · 20/02/2010 13:27

alasixesse: not especially, but I think you're very brave for having done so! I have a figure similar to yours, just smaller boobs and bigger thighs. I have a very macsculine figure and basic fashion sense (jeans and tees) and decided to get my hair chopped off today again but having got home I've realised that this haircut does not work. Typical hm?

I got some good advice for style though, I'm 20 so there is a lot of 'you can wear anything!' going on but I got good advice on types of clothes to make me feel more feminine here
