Nice men's pants

DH wants nice new underwear for his birthday (about time too). He doesn't like boxers or briefs - they have to be stretchy jersey short type things. I don't like Calvin Klein style branded white ones and would really like to find some that are gorgeous in fabric, colour or pattern (preferably all three). Is there such a thing?

Closest things I've found on the high street are in Gap, but it's all rather uninspired. Help!
