Hello everyone, thanks for all your tips on this. I have now spent a great deal of money on Citizens for Humanity jeans, yay mumsnet discount code....they DO NOT FALL DOWN and look great. Hurray. Pricey but am thinking in terms of price per wear. Hopefully that tip will help others!

roary

and a discount code too please.

thank you

Rindercella · 08/01/2010 14:09

Yes, ditto to Cheddar's requests please

Crapweasel · 08/01/2010 14:11

Yes, link please. This is surely the holy grail of maternity clothes

These are the ones http://www.mama-la-mode.com/shop/Jeans/ava_straight_leg_jeans/DRKP/

I KNOW. they are hideously expensive. But honestly, I have tried 6-7 other pairs and these are by far the best. When I first saw them I chuckled and thought to myself, who would spend that on maternity jeans? And then I did. I plan to wear them a lot and hopefully sell them on. I just can't stand walking around with my trousers falling down for the rest of my pregnancy!

Discount code is 10%, by the way - had I gotten these in my first pregnancy they would have been definitely worth it. Now I am justifying to myself in numerous ways, including I WANT TO WEAR TROUSERS THAT STAY UP! ;)

The discount code is just the Mumsnet one...

On the other hand, if you have SPD and need to wear a sacro-iliac belt, these also keep maternity trousers up. Swings and roundabouts...

dizzymac · 08/01/2010 15:49

I got a pair from Peacocks. They are not my usual style, more a carpenter style and have an adjustable waist and are over the bunp. they cost a very expensive £17 ( they had some paler blue in the sale for £7). They are VERY comfortable, look nice and NEVER fall down. .
Those others do look nice though!!

thighsmadeofcheddar · 08/01/2010 15:58

They are so freaking nice. Maybe I can use my healthy eating grant.....

Rindercella · 08/01/2010 16:57

They are lovely...I just can't justify the cost though. I bought a pair of Blossom jeans in my first pregnancy (think they were about 140 quid) and thank God I am pregnant for a 2nd time, to justify the cost of those!! Will have to stick tugging up my gorgeous dark blue Blossoms every 10 yards or so

carciofi · 08/01/2010 18:25

Harvey Nicks have Citizens maternity jeans half price in the sale, I almost bought a pair just in case I have another baby!

roary · 08/01/2010 19:47

Thanks, Carciofi, it was you who gave me the tip on the jeans...

And believe you me when I say if I could have found a £17 pair I would have bought them! I tried: Gap; Topshop (x 2 types x 4 sizes); H&M; Thyme (canadian brand); and Seraphine.

If one was more patient than me, one might find a pair on Ebay for a lot less (sadly they show a light wash that I don't like, either)

But given that one of my prime justifications for this extravagant purchase is Cost Per Wear I need to start wearing them soon! (baby due 31 March).

If it helps anyone else here are my other justifications:

  1. I can wear jeans to work, and will
  2. I have no other pairs of maternity trousers that will stay up, either....
  3. I made an effort to find cheaper ones, honest!!!

And they are really, really goooooood. I will just do Cost per Wear every day!!!

I will post back when I have worked them off ;)

Bloody hell, I'd want to be planning on about 8 kids to get my money out of those

traceybath · 08/01/2010 19:53

Ooh glad you got some - they look lovely.

Don't sell them though keep them for a couple of years in case you have another baby.

I speak as someone who gave away all of her maternity clothes after baby no 2 only to have surprise baby no 3 19months later.

MarineIguana · 08/01/2010 19:55

Oh, the holy grail indeed - but I've only got a couple of months to go, so not worth it, dammit!

(Unless I have another one... hmm DP won't be impressed if I want to get up the duff again just for the jeans )

traceybath · 08/01/2010 19:56

Its one reason to have another baby marine . Cost per wear and all that.

roary · 08/01/2010 19:59

costperwearcostperwearcostperwear.

If I wear them 156 times it will be like paying only a pound per day.

Traceybath, the thought of a third pregnancy fills me with dread! Even if I got to justify my jeans even more.

OP posts:
Rindercella · 08/01/2010 21:00

Roary, we're due within a week of each other

To fully achieve your costperwear, you're going to have to be wearing those babies at night as well as all day, every day

roary · 08/01/2010 21:08

They would be great pjs. Actually further justification: I just wear reg pjs , undies, and tights so I am not buying mat wear in these categories. Therefore jeans are a savings! And also they are plated with gold and do the washing up.

I will wear postpartum too.

Rindercella dd1 was 42 plus 2 so I am not expecting this one till April really!

OMG I have a pair of COH mat jeans...I shall have to sell them now I am no longer pg! If i had known they were that expensive (got a good deal on ebay) I would not have dragged the bottoms so they scuffed a bit . Still, i think i can get what i paid for them!

PavlovtheCat · 08/01/2010 21:14

£192 for the exact ones I have! I should have made sure the back pocket was on show more often!

roary · 08/01/2010 21:20

Even my gold plated ones were not that much!

Abit off topic but wondered what anyone else has found. I'm 36+4 2nd pregnancy - had 2 pairs of seraphine jeans - happy with underbump pair but sent back 'belly band' over bump pair. Really liked the under bumps but they did slip abit and actually had to stop wearing at 33/34 weeks - bump uncomfortable.

Do people generally stop wearing under bumps at mid 30/40's?
Or was this just me or just 2nd pregnancy?

Feeling deeply unfabulous in over bump black jersey skirts every bloody day!
