I got this today and it is fab.

Its light, not too bulky and so so warm. I may never ever take it off again.

The long down coat is def more stylish than the stadium squall. I would keep watching the website if I were you: the Stamford was out of stock for a while, but they trickle back in in various sizes and i snapped one up. it is en route now!

this is more streamline than a down filled coat, totally waterproof and comes to just above my knee (I am only 5ft). It has been brilliant for the bitterly cold, long (with 30 minute wait at school) walk to and from school - I am so glad I bought it.

I've got a gorgeous full-length Searle duvet coat that I had to panic buy in Saks in the middle of a New York snowstorm. It's very fitted, with a big furry hood and is surprisingly flattering - I think Americans do duvet coats so much better because their weather demands it! Was about $300 but I've worn it so much. I've even slept in it twice in JFK during snow delays.

Thanks for your advice mumsnuts, checked back in on their website last night and got one of only 2 stamford long coats left! Be here in 2/3 days time to compare with the squall. I got black which was not first choice but you can't go wrong with black can you?

Mumsnut · 29/01/2010 12:50

Mine is black, it arrived today, and it is very lovable indeed. The WARMTH!!

(My only gripe with Land's End is that they use Hermes as couriers and it takes forever to get anything. I am positively longing for more snow now to test my Stamford out properly.)

teddymummy · 29/01/2010 15:30

oooh lovely! Its cold enough without snow to need it. Wish mine would come now!

teddymummy · 30/01/2010 20:46

The lovely Stamford coat arrived today and has already had an outing to the park and for a walk!! Stadium squall going back as I saw two old ladies wearing it today in black and red- average age of about 75! Nothing against older people but am trying to maintain the yummy mummy image !!

DiD you have snow this morning, Teddymum? (I'm assuming you live in Teddington - probably wildly off the mark). We had snow in Esher and I am smug and snug in my Stamford ...

teddymummy · 01/02/2010 11:28

No, we live in Oxfordshire. The frost was so thick this morning it was like snow though! Smug here too!!!
