Sod style: I want to do a 'Britain has turned into a bloody freezing Ice Kingdom' clothing thread.

Right, I have ordered Ice Grips for me, DH and eldest kid. But I am buggered if I can find anything similar for tiny kids (toddler to 5...) The smallest I can find are Yaktrax but obviously every where is out of stock and in any case they're still too big for a stumbling toddler.

And I am thinking the Scandinavians and Central Europeans must have this kind of thing sewn up, right? So can anyone a bit more used to snow and ice recommend some websites that will deliver internationally?

I would also be very grateful to hear of offers on thermal underwear currently, especially in kid/toddler sizes? Or other exciting and wonderful anti-cold clothes/accessories.

Thanks.

M&S thermals are good - and cheap.

Blacks/millets were doing "buy one, get one 1/2 price" on thermals before Xmas. Not sure if offer still valid but they do kids sizes.

Ice grips

Google Yaktrax for the other kind. I have never used them but I am fed up of everyone slipping over on the ice and as it is supposed to stay Arctic right through January, it seemed like a good investment. They are out of stock now though so hoping they will be able to send some soon...

I've always got good kids stuff from http://www.littletrekkers.co.uk/ here

Northernlebkuchen · 02/01/2010 15:33

Sorry www.littletrekkers.co.uk/here

Thanks - those sites look good. Uniqlo and M&S thermals look great and between them we have just about covered everybody.

I'm still struggling for an ice solution for toddlers though.

DH informs me that in Northern cultures (Inuit, Lapp etc) that suede moccasins do the trick on ice...

haha it must be bad in the north
we had one day of snow here

WilfSell · 02/01/2010 18:07

Actually it hasn't really snowed properly where I live yet. That'll happen next week just in time for school to be cancelled

But it does keep sleeting/raining and then freezing over again which is making walking pretty treacherous.

And of course it is still brass monkey bollock freezing.
