I have been dithering for a few months. I used to hate them, but am sort of seeing the point now. Anyone care to share their opinions?

i don't like the sheepskin ones, but i love the cardy ones, i have been itcing for a pair all year, got some for xmas and i love love love them, its all i wear outside.

MrsSeanBean · 31/12/2009 12:32

Yes funnily enough it vwas the cardi ones that got me interested too! They look deliciously cosy but am unsure how practical knitted fabric is for outside wear. How do you clean them?

i put mine int he washing machine when they get really grubby and then over a radiator no probs i also have the cardy uggs its weird even in the rain my feet never get wet

giddykipper · 31/12/2009 12:34

They are phenomenally warm and comfortable. They do encourage scruffiness though (or perhaps that was just me!)

LetThemEatCake · 31/12/2009 12:45

Indoors only, for me- but am Aussie so have preconceived, pre-fashion item ideas. I don't really like the cardi ones but admit my tan long ones are lovely and warm and cosy and adorning my feet as I write

Having said that, am going to get a pair of nappa Love from Australia boots, which I'd wear outside, within reason. Nursery run etc, not lunch or cafe...

EldonAve · 31/12/2009 12:58

I love mine but mainly wear them at home - London in the rain isn't suitable

I have the Ultra Shorts so they have proper soles.

ShirleyKnott · 31/12/2009 13:08

i prefer the rocket dog ones

carciofi · 31/12/2009 13:58

I love them but only wear them indoors at home.

mimsum · 31/12/2009 14:16

I'm married to an Australian so have inherited LTEC's preconceived ideas - plus my mil regularly sends batches over for the kids and they are definitely SLIPPERS

I think they look awful, but they are soooooo cosy and comfy that occasionally I have slipped out to the corner shop still wearing them, but it feels a bit like going out wearing pyjamas though ...

nicolamumof3wisemen · 31/12/2009 14:19

and why not?? comfy and warm are my main perogatives this time of year i love my bailey button uggs barely been off my feet since september!

BooHooo · 31/12/2009 14:20

I love them - have loads of pairs, mainly for wearing after giving birth in Winter to keep cosy and warm and comfy. I think if worn well and you are tall they look fine, I really don't get why some people are so against them tbh...

4CALLINGBIRDSandnotout · 31/12/2009 14:29

I have black cardy uggs and love them, they are so soft and warm! I might throw them in the washing machine now as I have been wondering how to clean them!

poinsettydawg · 31/12/2009 14:47

The insurmountable against is that they are so incredibly ugly and turn in on themselves in a very unflattering way.

Also againts - suede and wool not good in rain and snow and slush. Must be like walking in giant sponges.

bellissima · 31/12/2009 14:49

Lovely and cosy but best worn in cold dry weather (or indeed indoors when it's freezy!). Look ridiculous and tatty with salt stains etc - possibly okay if one is a teenager but suspect most of us not. Oh - and is it just me but does your heel always feel like its slipping a bit?

nicolamumof3wisemen · 31/12/2009 14:52

only the cheap copies fall in like that tho?

it amazes me why on earth people where them in wet weather tbh!

izzybiz · 31/12/2009 14:53

Its the cheap fakes that turn in on themselves.
I have the tall chestnut ones and have been wearing the for nearly 2 years, they still look good, I have the grey cardy's, and for xmas i got the tall chocolate brown ones!

I love them all!

poinsettydawg · 31/12/2009 14:55

in teh uk it's wet every second day. It's a heck of a lot of money for a pair of fair-weather slippers.

Mimi1977 · 31/12/2009 14:56

I too was like you but converted this winter. My husband finds it hilarious that I've slagged them off for years and now wear them but I do think they look cool and are so warm. I don't see the point of the cheap ones as they collaspe at the heel and look cheap. I've got some tall chestnut ones and love them to bits.

OpheliaPain · 31/12/2009 14:57

out of stock now on net a porter

BelleDameSansMerci · 31/12/2009 14:59

Have worn mine in the snow, slush and rain and they are completely waterproof. That's the "normal" sheepskin ones. I wear them a lot. I got some black cardy ones just before Christmas but haven't worn those yet.

I also think they're Ugg-ly but they're so comfortable and practical. I wear them all the time when I'm not doing well dressed.

I'm a complete "shoe queen" as well so it's not like I don't have at least 20 other pairs of boots I could wear

far too expensive,so i buy the cheap primark/asda/tesco versions. the aren't exactly flattering to ur legs but they keep my feet warm and the go great with a lot of different things i own. just dont wear them in the snow or rain!

tulpe · 31/12/2009 17:03

I am a total Ugg convert. DH bought me Bailey Button Uggs in Chestnut for Christmas. I have worn them every day since! We are currently in ski resort and they have kept my feet toasty warm :-)

Maize · 31/12/2009 17:58

I have short chestnuts and loooooove them. I had River Island copies which were v.g but my Uggs are better. They are warmer and comfier. I have not had an issue with my R.I ones slipping to one side so that was a none-issue for me anyway in getting the Uggs. All my friends who have them their Uggs still look pretty new even after a few years so I think they do last well.

TheChristmasHour · 01/01/2010 16:06

Heat magazine have declared that uggs are one of the best trends of the year!
