hAVE managed to grow nails a bit by wearing nail varnish all the time.

JaneiteQuiteRight · 29/12/2009 16:53

Nothing that you'd like I guess - old lady pink, grey, black or navy blue.

CoqAuVin · 29/12/2009 16:53

ok I'll let you off

I either wear a couple of coats of french manicure colour (sans tips of course) or a dark one, whatever's not gloopy.

Jazzicatz · 29/12/2009 16:55

Opi is the best nail varnish by far!

CoqAuVin · 29/12/2009 16:55

not sure about grey

CoqAuVin · 29/12/2009 16:59

i want a SHADE though
i always presume a heather shimmer kind of shade is daytime but i htink that is only the case for Gloria Hunniford and her Gin and Jag ilk

I Boots 17 Fast Finihs - used to come in a fab nude-pink-with a hint of glitter called Flirty Fox

ruddynorah · 29/12/2009 17:12

i wear french manicure colour without the tip too. rimmel is fine. they do a few franch manicure colours, all very plain and neutral. just gives nails a gloss really, but a touch of colour too.

CoqAuVin · 29/12/2009 17:14

lik these?

OP posts:
traceybath · 29/12/2009 17:16

Essie ballet slippers if I want neutral.

Essie wicked if I want colour.

Also still partial to some rouge noir.

All with glossy top coat of course.

Jazzicatz · 29/12/2009 17:16

They are the ones - even the reds and purples last really well.

MrsBadger · 29/12/2009 17:34

yy OPI
if I ever get my nails done they use this, tis good stuff

ruddynorah · 29/12/2009 17:38

this i like

NotQuiteCockney · 29/12/2009 17:48

Nails Inc and Opi last well, the rest are mostly cack.

I like dark colours, I wear a lot of greens and purples. Probably not what you'd want!

MrsBadger · 29/12/2009 17:50

Jessica is OK too but have never seen it on mainstream sale, only in salons

pointsmakeprizes · 29/12/2009 17:51

I recently discovered NARS nail varnish - really wonderful stuff and brilliant colours - though expensive but it goes on beautifully and seems to be long wearing. You could get away with one coat on even the dark colours and they do not go on streaky. I have never been one for spending a lot on nail varnish preferring maybelline or rimmel but I will never look back now. If you can get your hands on the colour "gimme shelter" - a gorgeous dark plummy colour you will be converted.

QVC OPI parlez vouz is the loveliest grey/lilac and lasts forever and looks good on short (chewed) nails!

cocolepew · 29/12/2009 20:28

Grey, navy, black, dark purple [Morticia emoticon] But I keep my nails short.

ravenAK · 29/12/2009 20:34

Black, with a second coat of red/purple/green/blue if I'm feeling frivolous - undercoating with black is a great way to make almost any varnish look dramatic.

I don't like pale colours even for everyday wear - I think they look a bit little girly. Could just be because I have huge octave-spanning strangler's hands mind you.

JaneiteQuiteRight · 29/12/2009 20:40

Can you buy Opi in the shops? Grey/lilac sounds lovely.
