peanutbrittle · 22/12/2009 16:00

was feeling a bit fed up and in need of xmas cheering up this lunchtime so popped into benefit in covent garden - the lovely lady there put some stuff on me and said it looked nice - it did too, altho feeling so grim as I did I could have looked like a clown (tho' don't think i did) - can anyone with any experinece of this stuff advise on whether it works well, is worth th emoney as I may just go back and buy some in order to have something to open on xmas morning (cue violins)

thanks!

she recommended

benetint for lips and cheeks, though I think I need a lipstick too
dr feelgood primer for under foundation and mattifying
some kind-a gorgeous foundation

also the eyes thing (big beautiful eyes) that I already have but the way she put them on looked much nicer so I took copious notes

anyone got any experience, other favourites?
my colouring is pale, green eyes, browny auburn hair...

I like the Benetint and the High beam. I also have some of their mascara, which is quite nice, Shelaq which is a make-up fixer and I have a gold and a black sparkly loose powders which are lovely. I like Benefit stuff.

Twinkleandpearls · 22/12/2009 16:16

I love benefit stuff, well worth the money IMO

rubyslippedonastraymincepie · 22/12/2009 16:18

Dr Feelgoood is amazing

their browzings is the best eyebrow kit i have come across

their lustre dusts (loose powders) are nice and good colours (especially the lilac one)

not a huge fan of their mascaras altho' their blue lipgloss which makes your teeth look whiter is superb

DorotheaPlenticlew · 22/12/2009 16:23

Cautiously recommended ... I really like some of their stuff (inc the Benetint cheek stuff that you tried, def worth it and lasts AGES) but have had mixed results with others (concealers).

I think it's just that their concealers and at least some of the foundations tend to be just "light, medium or dark", but in fact some more shades are needed. Three shade options are never going to cover everyone. I have made this mistake a couple of times with them, and they always assured me the colour was fine but I ended up not using the product.

Have not tried Dr Feelgood but I have a friend who likes it a lot. She already has lovely skin though (unlike me).

rimmer08 · 22/12/2009 16:37

concealer is too thick IMO. benetint is amazing though

FolornHope · 22/12/2009 16:54

packaging over product imo

jeep · 22/12/2009 16:55

my boing has gone all hard

bluebump · 22/12/2009 16:56

The mascara is rubbish (great brush but it smudges) but I LOVE the dandilion powder. I like Benetint and the Hollywood Glo too (but I don't think they make that anymore.)

nellie12 · 22/12/2009 17:03

benetint is definitely worth it. last ages and gives a glow. (death warmed up colouring)

GiveMeChocolateNOW · 22/12/2009 17:06

Some of their make-up is brill! I have Posietint (like benetint but pinker), which I luurrve. I also have Dallas blusher which is great for summer but too dark on me in the winter.

At the moment I'm hankering after 10 (blusher) and the celebutante make-up kit. That Gal primer is also good but mine ran out v v quickly.

I also have moon shine and on of the pale powders (the peachy one), I don't think much of those at all.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 22/12/2009 17:07

I bought myself some kind o gorgeous the other day as an uber treat (in fact I am just looking through the catalogoue now, it is fab, I am also very pale with green eyes. also quite freckly and it doesn't cover them all up iyswim.

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 22/12/2009 17:11

Agreed about benetint, high beam and the blue lipgloss (which also smells lovely). They also do a good light pink pencil which you put on the inner corners of your eyes to brighten them. I love Benefit- great for a real treat as it's so expensive!

fanjolina · 22/12/2009 17:21

Benetint is good.

Can get the same effect of Dr Feelgood with Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter, for a fraction of the price

miche8 · 22/12/2009 18:32

The benetint and posie tint are lovely and last forever, also like the benetint lipbalm.

The boing conceal is real heavy duty if thats what you need and the erase a paste for undereyes is the best if you have dark circles and need more than a highlighter pen.

Dr feelgood is nice but it did dry my skin out after a while.

Also like the dallas bronzer/blusher, it looks much darker in the box but is fine for my pale skin if i put it on lightly.

The foundation colours aren't great, and the some kind a gorgeous foundation just sat on my skin, i thought it was far too dark for me, but the girl disagreed.

Found the mascaras very smudgy.

Think my next purchase will be the highbeam. You can order it online at boots and collect points too.

Hopefully · 22/12/2009 20:28

I found that Dr Feelgood made me break out in spectacular fashion. Kept trying again as it made my skin look so nice, but was a complete disaster.

Benetint definitely a goodie though - although do try not to drop it and smash the bottle into one million pieces. The stain will never go.

peanutbrittle · 22/12/2009 20:44

oh you lot are just THE BEST - sound like the benetint is a no-brainer and waitrose bottom butter another! (does it mattify AND prime???)

some kinda gorgeous actullay still looks nice on my (combination skin) whereas others would have slid into insignificance by now so maybe worth it????

love you all - happy xmas

I have a double ended Benetint thing.
Benetint in one end, clear gloss in the other.
Like others have said, it lasts for ages!

Benetint Pocket Pal

fanjolina · 22/12/2009 20:52

Not sure Waitrose BB mattifies and primes on all skins. Can go greasy on some. So try with a tiny amount.

miche8 · 22/12/2009 21:17

The waitrose bottom butter is very greasy smells of white chocolate, very good for rubbing on dry legs and feet, wouldn't ever put it on my face, have heard people putting it on their faces they must have very dry skin, don't think its anything like the dr feelgood.

mrswill · 22/12/2009 21:22

I have most of their stuff

I would reccommend Benetint, if theres one thing, buy this.

The loose powders are lovely, as are the highlighters, moon beam, and highbeam.

Most lipsticks are good. So are the little pots of glittery loose powder for eyes, but get Shelaq along with this.

The 'Kits' - big beautiful eyes, and the smoky eyes one are also very good.

I really wouldnt bother with their foundation, concealer, mascaras, lipliners etc.

I havent found that dr feelgood balm much cop either.

Happy shopping!

jammietart · 22/12/2009 21:23

I'm not sure it needs saying but Benetint is very good!

mrswill · 22/12/2009 21:24

GivemechocolateNOW - what celebutante kit, I havent seen this there!! Whats in it?

Sandy22 · 22/12/2009 21:26

I love benefit, have the Dallas powder, Dandelion Powder, Hoola powder, big beautiful eyes, high beam, creaseless cream eyeshadows, some kind of gorgeous foundation, dr john moisturiser. Will have to try the benetint as you ladies seem to think it is good, also didn't know about the lipgloss that made your teeth whiter - will have to check that our too.

Adair · 22/12/2009 21:29

Ohhhh I love Benefit stuff - AND the packaging is gorgeous too (well, if you're gonna pay a fortune for it, it should look like it)

IMVHO
Benetint - great
Dandelion powder - fab
I had the Some kind of ...? foundation and loved it for a week, then thought it was too dark for me. My sis uses it - is a nice barely covering foundation (I hate foundation, but liked the texture). My skin is far too pale for most foundations though (my fave is Maybelline minerals or Max Factor).

I put a tiny bit of minerals and Dandelion powder to go out today and dh said 'you look the same but awake' . Amazing what a bit of blusher can do.

Buy the Benetint!

AnInginAneAnA · 22/12/2009 22:39

I really like Boing! the industrial concealer.
