I am 31, and thought it was more effortessly stylish, something I could wear alot. But now my mum has me thinking it is 'mature'....

It's from Topshop. How can it be too "mature"?

moffat · 19/12/2009 22:17

maybe she means classic - it looks sort of timeless.

Jewelsandgems · 19/12/2009 22:19

I agree evil, and moffat, it was the accompanying look when she said 'mature' that makes me think she did not mean classic

i think it's lovely.

shinyshoes · 19/12/2009 22:20

its great! its one of those good buys that you could get away with year in year out.

tres stylish!

ShinyAndNew · 19/12/2009 22:20

Maybe she is jelous and hopes if she puts you off, you will return it for a refund and have more money for her xmas box?

LauraIngallsWilder · 19/12/2009 22:21

I think it looks fab
And timeless

Nevergoogle · 19/12/2009 22:22

in fact i like it so much i want it.

humptynumpty · 19/12/2009 22:29

err, mature? Definately not. This is what I would call mature here

LetThemEatCake · 19/12/2009 22:32

not crepey mature in the slightest.

Mature as in a sensible choice because effortlessly stylish and classic, yes.

EvilTwinsStoleSantasSleigh · 19/12/2009 22:41

Lol humpty

choosyfloosy · 19/12/2009 22:46

How old is your mum jewelsandgems (like yr name btw)? It probably looks a bit like what to her was an 'old lady coat' in HER time - was she born around 1955 maybe? Obviously it is actually fab. Bet you look great in it.

humptynumpty · 19/12/2009 22:47

while you're at it, with the "mature" look you will be needing one of these

Paolosgirl · 19/12/2009 22:50

It's a lovely black coat from TS - how can it be "mature"?

Now, if it looked like this she might have a point

AngelinaJolly · 19/12/2009 22:55

It's a very lovely coat. Could she be envious and trying to justify transferring it to her own cloakroom .

MaggieAnFiaRua · 19/12/2009 23:00

I'd like something like that. you could put it over a dress when you go out and it's not too casual.

have suddenly realised i need a coat that matches a dressed up dress iyswim.

purplepeony · 19/12/2009 23:01

it's lovely.

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 19/12/2009 23:14

its gorgeous. ive got one similar but longer and i love it. single breasted fitted coats are classic.

Sazisi · 19/12/2009 23:20

nonsense.

Only thing would bother me is it's only 7% wool and thus will possibly bobble and lose shape more quickly than a coat with a decent wool content. For that price I would want a lot more wool tbh

sorry but did your mum perhaps mean - boring... and mature was a nicer way of putting it

runs and hides

CybilinExcelsisDaewoo · 19/12/2009 23:25

yes its ok, quite military. Doesn't blow me away but I bet you're stilll wearing it in 3 years time, unlike some of the trendy wendy coats that are around

BitOfFunderthemistletoe · 19/12/2009 23:35

You could carry off a paper bag- it looks fine to me, and you will look lovely in it.

Tortington · 19/12/2009 23:39

i think its lovley

puffling · 19/12/2009 23:43

Agree with choosyfloosy. She probably associates the style with a period in time. therefore assuming it's old fashioned.

If you got a fleece would she think you were more with it?
