I am 31, and thought it was more effortessly stylish, something I could wear alot. But now my mum has me thinking it is 'mature'....

It's lovely.

Definitely something I'd wear (although I am a tad more "mature" than you!!)

Thanks for your replies ladies

Yes indeed, my mum was born in 1954 which could well be the reason behind the mature comment + the 'look'.

I do like it too, agree about the lack of wool content, may have to get one of those fluff removing machines

It looks lovely over a dress and nice open too plus it has lovely long sleeves (Most coats I try on come to watchstrap length [drafty up sleeve emoticon])

I am going to try and wear it today.....!!

i like it, and know what you mean about the sleeve length (important for us knuckle-draggers ).

I really like it, it looks chic and timeless.
She is prob envious...

pispirispisloveschristmas · 20/12/2009 08:28

It?s gorgeous. My mum?s a sixties chic too and wouldn?t have been seen dead in an old lady coat like that either. Her gran would have worn a coat like it.

Jewelsandgems · 20/12/2009 15:33

Well I wore it this morning and felt very warm and very chic in it!

I am with Sazisi, too little wool for the money, otherwise I think it is fine, not "mature", whatever that is meant to mean? I think your Mum just didn't like it.

rimmer08 · 22/12/2009 16:41

very nice. quite sexy really- wear it!!

Update on the coat:

So, just 1 1/2 weeks of wearing and the pilling was really bad - and I was being so careful when wearing it and with regret I decided somthing needed to be done.

I phoned topshop and got a evasive response with regards to if I could get a refund and since I binned receipt, she was even more non-commital. But, I printed off my bank statement with the debit and set off ready for an agrument and what happened? The girl was really sweet, said she totall understood and refunded me fully right there and then. Yay!

In the end, I bought another coat from topshop (bearing in mind I now did not have one) which is navy, wool, has a full skirt and gold lining (so when you twirl you can see the gorgeous lining!)

I still love the coat that bobbled though, was such a beautiful shape.....

Either she's hoping you'll give it to her, OR she's using the word "mature" in an old fashioned way, meaning grown up and stylish. I don't think the word "mature" used to be such a dirty word. But it's become tainted by our cultural obsession with looking 18 forever. It's a good coat.
