To complement this thread and to be looked at with scorn and derision in a few years' time when we realise how deluded we all were.

Good lord Belinda - they CAN be washed you know.

Marioandluigi · 14/11/2009 18:45

whats wrong with second hand clothes?????

BitOfFun · 14/11/2009 18:58

It's very eco-friendly to recycle clothes (and jewellery, handbags etc etc), and nice to know you aren't likely to see anyone else wearing that item. Rather than everybody having to sport exactly the same "trend" has been decided is in. I can't see the problem myself.

herjazz · 14/11/2009 19:11

adore vintage stuff. Have done so ever since a teenager. I even like the musky smell of old clothes

Its easier to get exactly what you want now rather than just settling for whatever bobs up in yr local charity shop. Love how you can get stuff from the states just like that off internet

though downer is that everyone's a bit more clued up / savvy about it now so yr less likely to stumble across things in charity shops. But hey ho, I'm a proper grown up with a job now so can cope

JANEITEisntErudite · 14/11/2009 19:13

A good find in a charity shop is way better than that Next cardigan on your other thread.

herjazz · 14/11/2009 19:25

what next cardigan?

have got a cardi from next actually. Twas a rabid purchase in fervour of sale shopping kids stuff. Can't figure out which way round it should go on. Its v granny and a nice way of dressing down and old dress for work. In my head. Rather nasty really

JANEITEisntErudite · 14/11/2009 19:31

Sorry - Belinda's cardi.

especially on Brandon Flowers

An extra swoon from me too!

stressheaderic · 15/11/2009 09:16

My staples the last couple of years have been flat pumps, skinnyish jeans (well, just fitted straight leg really), and longish length tops layered. A non-fashion-victimy look that I won't be ashamed to look back on in 20 years (well, I say that now!)
Also been a fan of military style jackets (ie. double breasted and just on my hips) and lots and lots of different scarves, pirate style and otherwise!

moondog · 15/11/2009 09:56

Such a term surely represents the nadir of inane fashion journalism.

BF sounds just like Chris de Burgh as someone on MN pointed out a while back.I snigger everytime I hear him now.

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 16/11/2009 13:54

I'm loving the 'vintage' thing {grin}

so affordable.

I have never understood the obsession with the word 'designer'..if it's man-made then sombody has designed it, it didn't happen by accident.
