Have you tried mineral make up? It seems to work on all types of skin without causing irritation. I use and love Bare Escentuals ID Minerals which you can get in Debenhams, and independent beauty salons.

Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer is brilliant if you don't need masses of coverage. Bit expensive, especially if you also get their lovely primer to use under it. You will look gorgeous on your way to the poor house...

madmissy · 07/11/2009 09:47

ooh no i have not... whats there coverage like? i like to have great cover as i can look tired and try to stay clear of concealer

was thinking estee lauder double wear..

InterruptingKid · 07/11/2009 09:50

dotn user mineral on dry skin - you ened up looking like Emily Bishop

geordieminx · 07/11/2009 09:52

I use Clinique gentle light - love it

madmissy · 07/11/2009 09:54

clinique never seems to cover enough for me tbh...

my skin is more dry patches than dry all over so if i goto creamy then i avoid dry patches but end up oily in other areas

For the cheaper end of the market bourjois is good and has masses of colours but need good skin to start with as I think the coverage is light.I like mac too and m and s do a good glowy one but don't know the name.

YourCallIsImportant · 07/11/2009 10:01

Emily Bishop LOL! I never thought of that! I thought it was for all types but I suspect you're right, so steer clear of it unless it's the floury scone look you're going for

tethersend · 07/11/2009 10:10

Which Mac one do you use?

I just got their 'studio sculpt' foundation; comes in a tube and is gel-like. Good amount of coverage and a dewy feel.

I also have sensitive skin, and Mac doesn't irritate at all.

noddyholder · 07/11/2009 10:12

I like the studiofix liquid spf one.It is running out though and I think I'll change.Would try vitalumiere but don't have dry skin so may be too oily

madmissy · 07/11/2009 10:14

yep i use the studiofix liquid too

just fancy a change as dont feel i have soulmate with it

OP posts:
tethersend · 07/11/2009 10:18

You could always get a tester of the studio sculpt and a few others. Mac will do this no problem.

I heard the Lancome one was good, and emailed them for a sample, sob story and all about being housebound (read lazy) so unable to get to the city centre store. They were unmoved. Pah.

I just got the new NARS one - sheer glow - it's really lovely - lighter in feel to vitalumiere but as much coverage and more of dewy natural look., definitely prefer it to the chanel one. I think it's supposed to be better then the MAC studiosculpt too if you want something similar but a bit of a change. They do a sheer matte as well if you want a matte look but I only tried the sheer glow. £29 from spack NK. Supposed to have brightening properties and other stuff too in though not sure if they will really do anything.

If you want a mineral one then Smashbox halo hydrating powder is wonderful - i have never had a mineral powder look good on me and that one made me look flawless without looking like I had anything on. If I could only buy one foundation for the rest of my life I would keep buying that one.

I absolutely love L'Oreal True Match - inexpensive too. Used to wear by Clinique and Clarins, but can honestly say True Match is as good, if not better (I also have dryish, sensitive skin).
