Wrist warmers, cool or old lady?

JackBauerBlowsShitUp · 04/11/2009 21:11

I am making some for christmas presents and I love them for the school run with pushing buggy/doing up coats etc but DH insist I look like a twat.
So which are they?

CharCharGabor · 04/11/2009 21:12

I love them, was thinking of making some myself. Ammost definitely not the epitomy of style though!

are gloves no longer de rigeur?

LetThemEatCake · 04/11/2009 21:19

my cashmere ones arrived today (there's a thread further down the page about them) and they are definitely cool.

Old lady, moi??

bonfirewithaheartofgold · 04/11/2009 21:21

your dh is wrong. have loved em for years and the world appears to be catching up with me. i saw fashionable youngsters wearing them at festies over the summer.

bonfirewithaheartofgold · 04/11/2009 21:22

btw it's like baby names - they're so old lady they're cool again

JackieNo · 04/11/2009 21:24

I have some lovely ones, but DH says I look like I'm in Steptoe and Son .

herjazz · 04/11/2009 21:27

I wanted to ask this earlier - so they are not just an aesthetic thing then? Is there something about yr wrist point that when warm makes the rest of you feel all toasty?

displayuntilbestbefore · 04/11/2009 21:27

perfectly acceptable and sensible to boot- and in fact there's a new glove out now that has only the thumb and forefinger missing for photographers to use on chilly days hanging around the bird reserves....I ask you........

bonfirewithaheartofgold · 04/11/2009 21:27

honestly, the number of women who listen to their dh's opinion on matters of style. have abetadad and unquietdad's posts here on s&b taught you nothing?

LaurieScaryCake · 04/11/2009 21:28

tres jolie

JackBauerBlowsShitUp · 04/11/2009 21:28

Thank god. I sort of sneered and told him he had no idea about style, but then neither do I
(Mutt, they are fingerless gloves that can go up your arm or stop at your wrists Like this

cakeywakeywhizzbangmakey · 04/11/2009 21:29

Are they the things that market traders wear so that they can still sort your change out? Bloody practical but, JackieNo, have to agree with your DH, a bit Steptoe and Son

bonfirewithaheartofgold · 04/11/2009 21:29

i wear them indoors typing a lot, and out with the pushchair cos you don't have to take gloves/mittens off to faff around with drinks and purses and cuddly toys and stuff.

JackBauerBlowsShitUp · 04/11/2009 21:29

Ew, that link has some nasty ones though, sorry!

OP posts:
JackieNo · 04/11/2009 21:29

Oh, I won't be listening to DH. Wrist warmers are great - if it's cold indoors, you can type wearing them .

JackBauerBlowsShitUp · 04/11/2009 21:31

They do keep your hands warm and the gapey bit at the end of your sleeves but leave your fingers free for faffing with kids stuff as heartofgold says.
Mine go to the second knuckle on my fingers so they keep most of my fingers warm as well.

cakeywakeywhizzbangmakey · 04/11/2009 21:36

... you've got to pick a pocket or twoooooo, boys .......

JackBauerBlowsShitUp · 04/11/2009 21:38

Dh is now having rather an amusing rant about how we are all gangin up on him 'females togetehr feminists burning your bras' stylee just to wind him up.

he then said somethign rather sexist, but I walloped him so that's ok.

OP posts:
frogs · 04/11/2009 21:38

cakeywakeywhizzbangmakey · 04/11/2009 21:40
