Poll: how many of your wear control underwear/corsets/spanx etc most days?

Just wondering really. Since having DC2 I have taken to wearing spanx everyday as it stops the wobbly bits, well, wobbling. I don't actually like the feeling of not wearing them anymore as I am used to the snug held-in feel.

Is it odd to wear this stuff even on stay at home with the kids days? Or do we all do it?

My aunt thinks its an affront to feminism.

Yep, my Nan (rip) wore a contraption called a corselette with suspenders permanently a-dangling. It was like a mahoosive bra that came down to upper thigh area and you attached your stockings to it. You wore plain cotton pants underneath.

I'm sure the menfolk had lower expectations in those days.

I went through a little phase of wearing spanx loads. I got little broken thread veins on me thighs around the same time. Not a good look. (As if looking like a strangled bollock is)

Also they are a norse to piss in. I actually took the slitted gusset ones for granted as easy open access. Then I smelt of wee

Nah special occasions only now for me

Put on whale bone corset/corselette attach suspenders to stockings pull up your pants after, suspenders then sit discretly next to skin rather then standing proud. Modern girls never seem to realise hence the queue at formal things as they wrestle with their undies

I suspect that any photographs of ladies showing arrangement other way round perhaps did n't dress themselves,

Knickers on the OUTSIDE.

i normally wear knickers over suspenders but this one (and yes that is me in the pics ) comes down too low for knickers to sit right over the top. so i have to wear them under and undo the stockings every time i need to pee? (have been going without so far... )

perfect ? for wearing on the school run.

I am amazed people wear any control pants - but maybe I am wrong!

Are they a real struggle to get out of?

Amazed at how many people on here wear them. I wouldn't even know how to get hold of them.

Don't you end up with a muffin top half way down your calves or somewhere?

I recently wore a girdle (that's what they are surely?) for a job interview-it took me about 15 minutes to get into it, I got the job, but I won't be wearing those evil cycling shorts again.

Never. I have never worn any control type underwear and do not own any.

But I have no wobbly bits either.

never.

Was tempted after birth of DS1, but my doc told me it would actually weaken my back and tummy muscles.

best thing is to always be aware of posture, stand and sit straight, hold in tummy and shoulders back. This is FAB for regaining figure. Also, walking and sit ups help tone you up.

And... a bit of wobble should be expected on any mummy (!)

I find those pants on young women(ie under 65)a peculiar British phenomenon. No continental gal would be seen dead in them ! I´d rather wobble a bit... and wear nice knickers.

This amazes me, tbh. My Mum (born in 1930) wore what was called a 'roll-on' corset every day of her life despite being a size 8, eight stone beanpole - she had no wobbly bits to control, but no woman 'who thought anything of herself' would get dressed without a corset, even to do the housework. Mum ditched hers while still quite young, and got lots of dispproving comments from friends / family - but she has often said that it was her finest hour.

I can't believe today's women are doing this to themselves. For a night out, yes - but such discomfort everyday, and health problems later?? Catch a bloke doing this!

I have a pair of the big spanx that come up to your boobs. I only wear them for special occasions when I am feeling bad about my post baby wobbly bits.

who says control pants are a "discomfort"??

they feel no different from wearing tights and if you have to struggle in to them or have fat rolling over the top then you are wearing the wrong size.

and what a load of nonsense about health problems perhaps if you are forcing youself into a wasp-waist corset then yes. but otherwise its a bit of elasticated cloth FFS.

Really?

Not according to health experts.

typical daily mail article but still...

Report
bamboobutton · 02/11/2009 18:46

that article is talking about obese people who do little or no excercise.

no amount of sit-ups is going to shrink saggy, strech-marked skin. thats the reason i wear them.
