overmydeadbody · 25/10/2009 19:04

So do you order online then to save on embarrasment?

oo 'ello, was thinking of going to Wallis to look for interview clothes.

What do you think of this little number? for an interview? Wrong colour maybe? I don't want to go all suited and booted but need to look v smart - maybe with a black tailored jacket, black tights and black heeled shoes?

SimonHowl · 25/10/2009 19:06

this was the summer one but not in htis BRIGHT green

SimonHowl · 25/10/2009 19:07

MyCatsAScarierBastardThanYours · 25/10/2009 19:10

SimonHowl (great name btw) - the blue dress? Better with neutral tights? Or not that colour at all?

overmydeadbody · 25/10/2009 19:11

oo er I like summer dress

overmydeadbody · 25/10/2009 19:15

Not sure I'd pair that blue dress with a black tailored jacket for an interview, unless it is for v stuffy high powered job?

MyCatsAScarierBastardThanYours · 25/10/2009 19:17

Not stuffy high powered job but a senior job nonetheless. Hmmm... I think it's maybe too bright.

Back to the drawing board.

SimonHowl · 25/10/2009 19:20

yes too much i think.

OP posts:
MaggieBruja · 25/10/2009 20:11

yes too bright for an interview.. wear with black tights, hooray, they are back in finally.

Amandoh · 25/10/2009 23:01

I really don't think it's too bright, it's not yellow after all, but it's bright enough to get you noticed. Pare it down with black. I'd wear a little black cardie over the top. But then I hate my arms.

sassy · 26/10/2009 08:53

Simon, I bloody love you.
Just got these for £16 thanks to your voucher code, plus bought the teal version of my dress for £24 as well.

Mwah

SimonHowl · 26/10/2009 14:09

oooh! well done

I tried on the black velvet dress with sheer sleeves today. It's not a great looking dress on the hanger as the velvet has an unusual shiny sheen and I thought the neck would be too high for my 34DD boobs.

However, it looked fine on. I usually buy a 12 but the smallest they had instore was a 14. It was very big though. Bigger than I expected for a 14 so there may be some vanity sizing going on. The neck line is a little higher than I'd normally wear but because the sleeves are sheer there wasn't a huge expanse of fabric across my boobs making me look "matronly". I was pleasantly surprised to find it was lined. I hate it when dresses cling to tights so the satiny lining will stop this.

Unfortunately there was no sign of the black jersey dress Sassy linked to. I ended up buying a black fitted thin-knit dress in H&M as a substitute. Bargain at £14.99. I shall now take advantage of the OKMAG code and order the dress with a smashing 20% off. Thank you for that SimonHowl.

SimonHowl · 26/10/2009 22:02

oi how short was it?
and how flared

OP posts:
Amandoh · 27/10/2009 00:16

I'm 5'4" and it came just above my knees. It's very straight and not at all flared. It should look more fitted in the correct size.

I read your earlier post about wearing it with leopard heels. You might want to rethink that. I have leopard heels (V. high, pointy toe, faux big cat skin) and I know without trying them on together that I will not be wearing them together. Demure dress and fuck me shoes just look wrong.

The dress was calling out for some Chanel-a-like pearls and ballet flats or some "Sensible Mummy" heels. The kind L K Bennett does so well.

Amandoh · 27/10/2009 00:53

Ordered dress using the code so thank you again. Also spotted this little black number. Was £37.00. Down to £25.00 in the sale. I got it for £20.00 with the code.
