Just read about it today - it opens on Friday. I liked some of the stuff on their website but was always put off by the price - plus they'd have to ship it from the US! If I was anywhere near London I'd be tempted to go in and have a nosy.

omg i LOVE that first ring on the blog.

hoxtonchick · 23/10/2009 21:56

yes, we should definitely have a proper trip. tempted by your afternoon off idea!

marenmj · 23/10/2009 23:31

YES

I never buy the clothes. I can't bear the price. But oh, the homewares!

I have purchased not one, but TWO absurd sets of measuring cups from them in the last year.

I do quilts and have a strange, soft spot for patterns. I often get inspiration from their bedspreads.

Their pulls and knobs are the most perfect way to make ikea and charity-shop furniture look pricey

A shop, even one as far away as Regent Street, is a dangerous proposition indeed.

VerityBrulee · 24/10/2009 08:38

Hoxtonchick, I got this ring from Alex Monroe last year for christmas and it is so gorgeous, I'm often complimented on it.

I'm so jealous of you Londoners and your easy access to Anthropologie. A few years ago we had a stopover in LA on the way to Sydney. We stayed in Santa Monica so the dc could go to the beach. On the first morning I went for a wander around and stumbled across an Anthropologie store and nearly fainted with excitement . I spent practically the whole weekend there and would have spent all our holiday treat money there and then. I love shops like that, they are such a visual treat, and such a pleasure considering the high street is so bland and boring.

There is a shop in Dublin called Avoca, which is most definately an homage to Anthropologie, albeit on a smaller scale. I usually buy 90% of my Christmas presents there. But maybe this year I'll see if I can get a cheapie Ryanair flight to London instead

VerityBrulee · 24/10/2009 08:55

Oooh, I just looked on Aer Lingus, It would be only 65Euro for a weekend in November ........soooo tempting.

foxinsocks · 24/10/2009 09:03

whereabouts on regent st is it?

LaurieScaryCake · 24/10/2009 10:14

I've just added the tissue thin t-shirt to my basket - lovely stuff

CherylVole · 24/10/2009 10:19

its a bit hipppy crap

LaurieScaryCake · 24/10/2009 10:22

well yes, you could look like you're made from hemp if you went out top-to-toe in it

but my tissue thin tshirt will look fab with my layered look of other crap

tattycoram · 24/10/2009 10:22

I love Alex Monroe. That ring is very you HC, perhaps you could get it for Christmas.Am awfully excited about the prospect of our trip

skybluewinking · 24/10/2009 10:45

Ooh thank you JJ for the India Knight link, Love that blog, had not seen it before. I want to BE India Knight!

francaghostohollywood · 24/10/2009 11:02

I love Anthropologie, another good reason to visit london asap!
I bought the most beautiful pair of skinny6 jeans in Anthropologie in San Francisco 3 yrs ago. I wear them constantly.

CherylVole · 24/10/2009 11:05

ooh no that store is NOT me
i like everythign PLAIN and labelled andclean not all dipsy crap

CybilAviationAuthority · 24/10/2009 11:33

I think some of the stuff is dreamy and some of it just plain wrong The bedding is weird but some of the shoes are fab.

JJ · 24/10/2009 11:51

Yes, Anthropologie is definitely not provincial high street.

India Knight is worth following on Twitter too, if you like her posterous blog. But she seems to be writing more on posterous now and linking to it from Twitter.

I feel a little like a stalker, except a very bad one because I can't remember where she writes her column and want to buy her books but never remember. Is the thrift book free with a magazine this month or did I make that up in my head?

PumpkinOnSourdough · 24/10/2009 11:56

I wish I still lived in London. (Never thought I'd say that)

CherylVole · 24/10/2009 12:32

that yellow top for eg - bung it in "QS" ( vari provicial high street dahlink) and it would fit right in

francaghostohollywood · 24/10/2009 12:41

I agree, some things are a bit too frilly, but some are beautiful. And my skinny jeans are perfection.
I actually like the bedding!

OllieWollieWoo · 24/10/2009 18:43

That India Knight blog is fab - thank you JJ! I love her How, Where and Why to Shop book (published a while back - all my mates got it for pressies from me!) and now I get to drool over the lovely things she has in her blog - love the holday homes she has posted and all the other bits! Bliss!

hoxtonchick · 24/10/2009 21:15

gorgeous verity.

oh yes tatty, i thought that, am going to shove the link under m's nose!

fishie · 24/10/2009 21:31

fox it is same side as hamleys, a little more towards piccadilly circ.

voley you would love it, anyone who likes shopping would. the changing rooms have little mirrored bits on the door where they write your name. and lighting so flattering i didn't want to leave.

i am going to get top on monday.

foxinsocks · 24/10/2009 22:17

thanks fishie, will pop in for a look!

JJ · 05/11/2009 17:22

Hoxtonchick, I very rudely didn't introduce you to my husband when I saw you there today, sorry! Did you get the tops? My friend loved her cup and I'm planning on wearing my dress out tonight. And the sweater tomorrow but not with the skinny jeans because I would look like a carrot or an oddly shaped turnip. You were right about Uniqlo, thanks - got 2 pairs for £10 each, bargain.

The store is beautiful, although more expensive than the prices on the US site, sheesh.

hoxtonchick · 05/11/2009 18:01

oh fab jj, so glad about the jeans and your dress was beautiful! i bought the flowery top, will look great with jeans (uniqlo skinnies no less) i think. the strange wool one, was, ummm, strange. a potential sale purchase i think. i thought the whole place looked amazing, though there was some distinctly dodgy knitwear. it's still my new favourite place though.

8oreighty · 05/11/2009 21:20

I went there last week, I nearly smashed the place up. It offended me. All that bloody felt applique overpriced CRAP. And trying to sell me a 'lifestyle' too...the music - some sincere Canadian folksy 30-something singer babbling on. And no I don't want a doorknob with my initial on it for £20. And those WIRE earrings are not worth £65...ARGHHHH. It's so Sienna Miller wannabee...I hated hated hated it. Not to say that people might look nice in some of the wafty tops. I like cool things for my house, and to wear...but nothing in there was even very different.
