OK I know I love to be rude about the Toast catalogue - but ooooooh my djellaba has arrived!

And I love it! Soooo big and warm and soft and long and all-encompassing - loads of space for my pg bump too. It is total sofa-snuggling winter perfection. It is a bit pricey but I'm getting it for my birthday

Admittedly I look like some kind of medieval monk/hobbit hybrid and perhaps style and beauty isn't quite the place I should be with this but... there isn't an "ugly but snuggly" topic...

good god. mine cost about £15 if that from marrakech. what a mark up.

pointyhat · 07/10/2009 19:04

well, I certainly won't be buying a djellaba any time soon

LadyoftheBathtub · 07/10/2009 20:00

Harrumph, where are all the Toast-lovers for my thread?

I know it's expensive but it isn't actually a real Moroccan djellaba made by blind orphans and costing 4 pence in a marrakesh market. It's a double-layer brushed flannel piece of poshoness and was probably hand-stitched in Malvern by lovely ladies called Daphne.

It's isn't that lovely to look at, but I can imagine just how cosy it is. Bit of a dodgy colour though-so many of their colours are so bloody worthy.

Ronaldinhio · 07/10/2009 20:42

this is fugly but functional at least i suppose
casts around for other things to say...

Ronaldinhio · 07/10/2009 20:43

I was going to say what a great contraceptive that is but I see it's too late for that.

morningpaper · 07/10/2009 21:19

OMG

Unless your husband has a Makka Pakka fetish, don't do it

LadyoftheBathtub · 07/10/2009 21:20

Ha ha but you see I wouldn't wear it in bed - starkers or nightie in bed, djellaba on for breakfast and lounging.

OP posts:
mwff · 07/10/2009 21:42

pmsl makka pakka fetish

LadyoftheBathtub · 07/10/2009 22:52

Well he does actually, so there.

(not really )

I too have a lovelty collection of Toast catalogues. Won't be buying one of those lumpy sack dress things though. sorry.

LadyoftheBathtub · 07/10/2009 22:55

That doesn't narrow it down much jemart!

At least mine isn't meant to be seen by the public

Deeeja · 08/10/2009 11:40

OMG!
You could have bought a lovely silky womans abaya, with beautiful embroidery on it.
Really, that is a sack, with sleeves.
@ £75

PCPlumIsMyHomeboy · 08/10/2009 12:34

Everyone stop being mean to Lady! She's comfy, warm and happy. In a suspect outfit, admittedly, but one of her own choosing.

ruddynorah · 08/10/2009 12:39

er excuse me mine was not made by blind orphans mine was made by a tailor well known to my family. how judgemental.

Yes, but the djellaba is an outdoor garment, this is the style usually worn by men. The womens version is more like ann abaya, usually with intricate embroidery.
Stilll if op is happy, then good for her.
