Spew.

No need to click any further.

I just know I'm going to hate the clothes.

Twats.

Here it is

I really really don't need any gilets thankyou.

I am really sorry ladies. It seems that an off the cuff comment I made has been taken completely out of context. It was not my intention to turn this hilarious thread into a debate about race and colour.

I am always pale and so truly thought nothing of what I had written, it was just a silly comment about the way the girl appeared in the photo.

To anyone who has been offended, I am sorry.

pofacedandproud · 07/10/2009 11:21

I agree with Threadie though. you can't really compare being teased about being pale with racism and its historical context.

mondaymonday · 07/10/2009 11:23

but pofaced, ignoring history and race, why is it acceptable to make fun of someone because of her colour. I think she looks beautiful

DungeonButter · 07/10/2009 11:25

I'm assuming somewhere in the middle of Joules mindless grinning and Toasts pouting bereftness is just right for advertising clothes.

Exactly, po. Of course wrong to make those comments in the lift. But nothing like racism and no implications for what we can and can't say about models. Any snidey comment about appearance to anyone in person is wrong of course. But commenting on a model's looks is as legit as commenting on a musician's singing.

GibbonWithAnAppleBobbingBibOn · 07/10/2009 11:26

Not often I lol in real life

Monday, with respect, it is the psychoesque mania of model being ribbed -lift incident must of been horrid but not fair to project that onto this thread.

Well if the photos were unpretentious and she was smiling in a few we probably wouldn't. Very different to commenting on an person minding her own business on the street. These models are made up and styled for a deliberate [pretentious] effect. And it is quite funny.

pofacedandproud · 07/10/2009 11:27

sorry that was to mondaymonday

morningpaper · 07/10/2009 11:27

We aren't making fun of her

We are making fun of asking models to look pale and confused and a bit psychotic for an aspirational fashion campaign

morningpaper · 07/10/2009 11:28

NO OFFENCE IF YOU ARE PSYCHOTIC

I MYSELF AM PSYCHOTIC AND

PuppyMonkey · 07/10/2009 11:28

Why so many tea cups?

Is what I wonder.

hullygully · 07/10/2009 11:29

Yeah but she can't help being pale. You are all being a bit racialist.

mondaymonday · 07/10/2009 11:29

you can't ask someone to 'look pale' - unless you're suggesting that she's put face whitening on, which I doubt is the case

pofacedandproud · 07/10/2009 11:30

I'm just imagining the casting MP. 'So we're looking for pale and interesting. And just a touch psychotic. Can you do that?'

hullygully · 07/10/2009 11:30

Look at poor Michael Jackson. People said he was racist for years but he had a skin complaint.

pofacedandproud · 07/10/2009 11:32

No she hasn't put whitening on monday. But she has been deliberately made up to enhance her paleness. And then told to do a cat's bum face. [sorry just loving this phrase at moment, know it is passe]

morningpaper · 07/10/2009 11:33

Yes they could bung some blusher on her and tell her to smile adn she's be gorgeous

But the point is, they've deliberately gone for the Nuns-have-stolen-my-baby face

DungeonButter · 07/10/2009 11:33

i will not tolerate michael jackson on my teapot/chabby chic/gilet thread.

DungeonButter · 07/10/2009 11:35

get out of here, all of you!

OP posts:
pofacedandproud · 07/10/2009 11:35

Yes hullygully that would explain the nose narrowing and the lips thinning too wouldn't it?
jackson did have vitiligo but that sparked something else. Serious body dysmorphia IMO.

PuppyMonkey · 07/10/2009 11:35

I mean, what's wrong with polystyrene?

Instead of the tea cups.

MintyCane · 07/10/2009 11:35

snort ok so you made me smile again

LadyoftheBathtub · 07/10/2009 11:35

In fact I think you would be on more solid ground arguing that it's Toast who are a bit racist, for only using models who are whitest white.

pofacedandproud · 07/10/2009 11:35

Ah MP you've made me snot over my keyboard several times this morning
