Tights with this dress?

misha print dress for a slightly alternative wedding (we're all camping out, and will have my wellies on standby)

The woman in the dressing rooms suggested purple tights.

I'm not so sure. They make me feel a bit like a four year old at a christmas party.

Have ordered the Rocket Dog Otto Ii in purple. From Schuh to try. Presumably not with purple tights.

Also, i got a daft looking fascinator as the bride is absolutely insisting on hats. I can't seem to find any hats that aren't old lady style. Where do you find funky hats?

TIA

I would prob get TEAl tights, too much purple already

CybilLiberty · 19/09/2009 22:45

Teal

Teal tights would be good. Then you could black shoes would be okay. However, I would also say "feck it" and wear purple tights with shoes if that is what I wanted to do! Cannot stand the "black with everything" rule. >

nevergoogledragonbutter · 19/09/2009 22:56

btw, is the john lewis hat being a bit high school musical a bad thing? i have no idea about high school musical.

teal also good with that print but harder to wear (imo) than purple - if purple is making you nervous, teal is not the answer.
Put it this way, noone bats an eyelid at purple tights now whereas teal is deffo straying into asking for comments from inebriated smartarses other guests territory.

Slubberdegullion · 19/09/2009 22:58

re the hat I thought facinators were OUT and a bit of net over your face was the new fashion forward thing. Purple or teal net though? not black I think.

CybilLiberty · 19/09/2009 23:01

IMVHO that dress does not go with hats or head gear. Not dressy enough. So tough if that's the dress you want and tough if the bride wants hats! (Bridezilla?)

nevergoogledragonbutter · 19/09/2009 23:05

no not bridezilla. she just wants theatrical tongue-in-cheek traditional.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 19/09/2009 23:08

ND, pllllleeeeease. The dress fits so nice. Very flattering around the cleavage and covers all the icky bits.

WTF do i do with the legs? Can i just wear trousers with it?

GetOrfMoiLand · 19/09/2009 23:09

I would not wear a hat with that dress, or a fascinator. Just accessorise with nice chunky jewellery. Don't worry about Bridezilla behaviour, it's not as if the bride will spy your lack of headgear and kick you out the wedding.

No also to purple or black tights. Wear teal ones. If none of those suit nude sheer ones instead.

Slubberdegullion · 19/09/2009 23:09

Maybe hat like this? Would match your tights

NoahDear · 19/09/2009 23:09

Portaloos?

Slubberdegullion · 19/09/2009 23:14

unhelpful suggestion of toilet paper hat

I saw one of those turban hats in a retro shop today, it was all velvety and soft. I reckon with the right sort of atiitude and good hair you could pull it off, a bit Joan Collins like.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 19/09/2009 23:14

thunderbox i'd imagine.

GetOrfMoiLand · 19/09/2009 23:14

Well if they are proper festival types wear on of those vile jester hats.
