Were I (hypothetically) to buy this dress, which colour?

Pale or dark?

I don't think I 'get' Marni.

BonsoirAnna · 16/09/2009 19:09

Thanks franca . The fabric from the second dress is around in the shops, on other designs - so I can hypothetically try it on and see. But I think the darker colour would suit me better in the depths of winter...

Why don't you like the skirt? The colour is amazing...

llareggub - franca knows me - so probably her perception is quite close to reality

NoahDear · 16/09/2009 19:11

as my mum would say " it looks shoddy"

NoahDear · 16/09/2009 19:12

why do you want to wear maternity clothes?

BonsoirAnna · 16/09/2009 19:12

You need to get up close - the clothes are beautifully made

can marni not afford a decent dummy that doesn't make you imagine a clumping, slouching woman in oversized shoes?

dogonpoints · 16/09/2009 19:13

Have you looked at the rear view of that skirt? Are we looking at the same thing?

NoahDear · 16/09/2009 19:14

I am sure it is but the style is so unflattering, It looks like A GCSE sewing project that ahem failed

choosyfloosy · 16/09/2009 19:14

annh, "but could you, darling? and if you had, would I have come into the room and said, Schiaparelli? Art is more than yards, darling..."

(love in a cold climate)

Having said that, I'm not stylish enough to like these even hypothetically.

Sagacious · 16/09/2009 19:15

My 5 year old (quite the fashionista) would love the pink and possibly the ruffles on the last link

But on a grown woman?

Non Non Non

[gallic shrug]

[oof]

francagoestohollywood · 16/09/2009 19:16

Anna I think the colour of the skirt is amazing, but I'm not sure about the black ribbon and would really want to try it on as the shape doesn't convince me. Isn't there a marni shop in Paris? ???

BonsoirAnna · 16/09/2009 19:16

Maybe on you Noah dear [patronising-in-return emoticon]

NoahDear · 16/09/2009 19:16

the teacher said" never mind just bung a balck ribbon on it"

dogonpoints · 16/09/2009 19:17

you can't go wrong with drawstring on impalpable voile

NoahDear · 16/09/2009 19:18

Lol
maybe it has built in pants, powered by the black ribbon.

BonsoirAnna · 16/09/2009 19:18

There's a Marni shop and two Marni corners (Le Bon Marché and Printemps) but they never carry everything and some of the stuff on the site never appears in the shops. Very complicated!

I was at Le Bon Marché today and tried on a load of stuff, including the jacket version of the first dress I linked to, which was very flattering (the neckline and armlength were perfect) but the jacket was useless on its own and I don't like black over pink.

"an intriguing set of fixed puckers". Indeed.

NoahDear · 16/09/2009 19:19

black over pink is a bit vanessa Feltz. or that other woman - the shouty one.

Ewe · 16/09/2009 19:19

Oh I love the second dress, very pretty! Def get that one.

SpringySponge · 16/09/2009 19:22

Sorry, but they look like they're made of old, dyed burlap sacks.

francagoestohollywood · 16/09/2009 19:35

Who's the "shouty one"?

Oh I see. I can actually see that the jacket might work better than the dress, but i agree very difficult to match. Def not black!

BonsoirAnna · 16/09/2009 19:38

Anyway, I have tomorrow to think it all over as DP and I are going shopping for him in Brussels tomorrow. I will only be able to justify spending lots of euros in Marni if he splashes out big time in Brussels. Of course, there is a big chance of that since I will be with him egging him on advising him

all looks terrible

francagoestohollywood · 16/09/2009 19:42
